The castle belonged to a King and a Queen and their little four year old son, Arthur.

He was a lively and curious child and one day while hanging around the castle he discovered the dungeon, but didn’t tell anybody.

He visited the dragon every week. Arthur liked to tell him stories and secrets even though he knew that the dragon couldn’t understand him.

Little by little the dragon began to understand some words, and tried to speak to his friend Arthur. After a few months, the dragon had learnt to speak and he and Arthur would spend hours talking and playing.

But there was still one doubt Arthur hadn´t solved: Why was the dragon imprisoned there. Every time he asked the dragon it didn’t answer, so he decided to ask his parents.

When Arthur told his parents about his friendship with the dragon, they were very shocked and forbade him to visit the dragon again because it was dangerous. But they told Arthur that they had imprisoned the animal before getting to know him just because they thought he was dangerous.

Arthur couldn´t imagine his friend in the dungeon for life, so he decided to free him.

The dragon, very thankful to Arthur, and visited him before leaving to say thanks for trusting in him, but also advised him not to disobey his parents.

Arthur apologised to his parents and but happy to know that his friend was free.

Nobody thought the prince was brave at all, and that really annoyed Jamie who wanted to do something about it.

Jamie´s luck changed when he found out that in the upper hills of the village there lived a terrifying monster who was frightening the neighbours every night. It was red, with three eyes and it had a deep growl.

There was no man in town capable of capturing the red monster. They all tried one by one, but it was impossible. One night the townspeople got together and hatched a plan, but what they didn´t know was that Jamie knew everything and went ahead of them.

Jamie hid behind a big stone while the group of robust men tried to get into the cave where the monster was sleeping. Jamie crept stealthily inside first.

When he found the monster he put a bag over his head, tied his legs and took him to the Royal Castle.

When his Uncle saw what Jamie had done, he realised that he was ready to be king and announced his coronation.

Jamie was happy to have shown his value, and added :

– “You shouldn´t have assumed I was not ready to be King before getting to know my qualities“.

Claudia was the most beautiful of all her friends. Her long blonde hair and big green eyes meant that people noticed her wherever she went.

As they entered the forest, the girls noticed something moving among the tree branches, but couldn’t see who or what it was… Suddenly, an enormous dragon came flying out of the undergrowth and grabbed Claudia with his claws. Then, as quickly as he had come, the dragon flew back deeper and deeper into the forest. Terrified, the other girls ran back to the castle to tell the king what had happened.

The King of Dragoland was so alarmed at hearing the news that his daughter had been kidnapped by a dragon that he ordered an army of a thousand men to rescue her. Meanwhile, the dragon had already reached his lair with the princess.

The young princess was so scared that she kept a close eye on the dragon’s every movement, for she feared that he would harm her. Suddenly, the dragon crouched over her and said: “Don’t be afraid, dear princess, I won’t hurt you. I just want you to be my bride.”

Claudia was astonished by this, for she had never imagined a dragon could like her. After a few minutes, she answered: “But dragon, I don’t want to be your bride. I want to marry Prince Nicholas. Moreover, you are a dragon and I am a girl and you should find a lady dragon to love you.”

Listening to young princess Claudia, the dragon reflected for a few minutes and then said:”Princess Claudia, I think you’re right. I should find a bride who is just like me, but when I saw you in the forest you were so beautiful… I’m very sorry for having imprisoned you in my lair.”

Right at that moment, the king’s thousand soldiers burst into the dragon’s cave to save the princess. Seeing they were about to shoot the dragon, Claudia shouted: “Noooo! Don’t shoot, he hasn’t harmed me! Stop!” Then the dragon set his claw on the ground for the princess to climb up, and took her to the entrance of the lair where her father the king was waiting.

And that was how the dragon understood that he should respect the princess Claudia’s advice, and look for a lady dragon to share the rest of his life with.

Rufus was the only dragon to exist in those days. He was the only descendent of the last dragons on the planet, and the royal family considered him to be the guardian of the kingdom.

Rufus was about to turn one year old, and the king and queen were going to organise a birthday party for him. On the morning of his birthday, Rufus came down for breakfast from his tower as he did every day. But today something was wrong – there was no breakfast waiting for him!

Annoyed, he went to the palace living room and flung open the doors. Thinking no one was there, he burst into tears, opened his mouth and filled the room with flames.

To his surprise, he opened his eyes to see the whole room full of people wanting to celebrate his birthday. Luckily, Rufus didn’t set anyone on fire, and the only things that got burnt were the candles on the cake.

As they celebrated Rufus the dragon’s birthday, he learned that there was no need to be annoyed because they hadn’t prepared his breakfast – for there are much more important things in life, like being happy and smiling all day long.
