Once upon a time there was a wolf called Peter who lived in the forest. He was myopic, and had a big mouth with three teeth, and his favorite food were goat´s kids.

One day, he went for a walk through the forest with his son the little wolf, called Linus, and lost his glasses, so could not see anything.

Began to look for them scared, but it was impossible to find them in the dense grass. His Son was helping him, but no signs of them either.

Suddenly, a kid of goat appeared and approached them:

– “Peter wolf, are you ok?”

-“I can´t see anything, I have lost my glasses”.

– “I will help you to find them” – said the kid.

The kid found them after a while!

-“Here, take them, now you can go back” – said.

The wolf was embarrassed at his bad intention, put on his glasses and took dejected his way back home. As Linus was hungry, his dad said:

-“I won´t hunt kids again! We will go to look for Tina cow´s milk, it´s delicious”.

-“Nice! I really like it!” – said the little wolf.

And they both went back home. Thus Peter wolf learnt the lesson.

And that is the end of the story…

Short Story written by: Flopy Olivera (10 years old)

Once upon a time there was a very curious kid called Shane. His neighbors were very strange as they never left their house. That is why Shane went to look for his friends to find out what was going on in that house.

The door was open and he went inside stealthily so that nobody would see him. He went into the kids´room and saw stuffed animals with terrifying poses. He didn’t notice when the father of the family came into the room and said:

– “Excuse me, are you in the wrong place? I want an explanation of what are you doing in my house?

Shane was really scared, and said:

– “I have now realised that you are…you are…you are WOLVES!”

The wolf then locked him up inside a room, Shane began to scream non stop. His friends were hiding in the kitchen. The father of the family went in there and showed his canines and began to laugh. It was just a joke he said. Shane was still inside the room, thinking of how to get out, but he banged his head on a rock. When he woke up he saw his friends laughing, and said:

-“What´s going on here? Can someone explain this to me?”

And his friends said:

– “Hahahah! It was just a joke! Hahahah”

Shane began to laugh at himself and asked to his neighbors:

“But why do you never go out?”

And the mother of the family answered:

“We do, but we use the back door. We have a back door behind the plants”

They all laughed together, laughing and laughing the whole day and night. The mother of the family prepared something to eat, and they sat down together like a family.

THE END

Once upon a time, there was a little Shepherd who lived in a town near the woods. His name was Peter, and he always took of his flock.

He was often bored and alone on the field and he used to play alone and invented many games to entertain himself. One time he had an idea to have fun at the expense of his neighbours.

One day, Peter started to shout –“Help, help! the wolf is coming!”- The alarmed neighbours ran out to help him but they just found Peter laughing at them -“Ha, ha, ha, You are so silly, I was joking!”. The neighbours were really angry and went back home.

The next day, Peter did the same – “Help, help! the wolf is coming!”- Some of the neighbours didn´t pay any attention, but others ran out again to help Peter. But again, it was just a bad joke. Peter couldn’t stop laughing and the good neighbours then decided to ignore him.

The day after, Peter the Shepherd was with his flock when a big wolf appeared and started to kill the sheep. Peter couldn’t believe it, and he shouted again – “Help, help! a wolf is eating my sheep!”

But no one in town ran out to help him. The wolf ate all the sheep and Peter felt really destitute.

From that day on, he never lied again and he had to look for a job as he didn´t have any sheep left to care for.

THE END

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs that were going to build a house to be safe from a wolf, who was hanging around destroying houses and eating the pigs that were inside.
The three little pigs had different ideas and so each pig built a different house. Fatty was the youngest and most impatient. He wanted to finish his house soon and so he decided to build a house of straw and then he went to play with the other little pigs.

Hammy, the middle brother built a house of sticks as it wouldn’t take him much time either, and so when he had finished he could also go out to play.

Porky, the oldest brother, decided to build his house of bricks. Even if it was going to take him longer, it was going to be a very strong house and a safe place from the wolf.

One day the wolf appeared and the three little pigs ran to Fatty´s house made of straw. But the wolf huffed and puffed and blew the house down, so the three little pigs ran to Hammy´s house. The furious wolf followed them to the house of sticks, and huffed and puffed and blew that house down too. So they ran to Porky´s house.

The three little pigs were really scared. When the wolf arrived he huffed and puffed but he couldn´t blow down the house of bricks. So he gave up and disappeared, and the three little pigs never saw him again.

THE END

The three little pigs, original version, (anonymous)

Once upon a time there were three little pigs and the time came for them to seek their fortunes and build their houses.

The first little pig built himself a house of straw, the middle brother decided to build a house of sticks, which wasn´t a very strong house either, but the third pig, the oldest, decided to build a house of bricks. He didn’t mind hard work because he wanted a strong house, and he knew that in the woods nearby there was a wolf who liked catch little pigs and eat them.

When the three houses were finished, the three little pigs happily danced and sang: “Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf?, Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, tra-la-la-laa!”

Just as the first little pig reached his door, out of the woods came the big, bad wolf. The little pig squealed with fright and slammed the door. – “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!” – cried the wolf – “Not by the hair on my chinny – chin- chin!” – said the little pig – “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in!” – roared the wolf.

And he blew the little straw house down. Away raced the little pig to his brother´s house of sticks.

The wolf was really angry, so he followed the youngest pig to the house of sticks, where the pigs were singing “Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf?, – Suddenly the wolf roared – “Open the door, Let me come in!” – ” “No, we won´t!” – said the pigs. “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in!” – roared the wolf. And he blew down the little house of sticks. The two little pigs raced away to their big brother´s house made of bricks and started to sing – “Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf?.

This made the big wolf totally furious – “Open the door little pigs!, Let me come in! ” – “No we won’t!” – ‘”Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!” – But he couldn´t blow down that little house of bricks.

He decided to climb onto the roof and get in through the chimney. So he climbed and jumped down the chimney and fell right into a kettle of boiling water! He sprang straight up the chimney again and raced away into the woods. The three little pigs never saw him again, and spent their time in the strong brick house dancing and singing – “Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf, the big, bad wolf?, Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf, tra-la-la-laa!”.

THE END

A summary of one of the most famous short stories in the world, Little Red Riding Hood. Next, the original short story.

SUMMARY OF LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Little Red Riding Hood. One day, her mother said: “Little Red Riding Hood, take this basket full of cakes to your grandmother, she is ill. Don’t get distracted on the way, the forest is dangerous and there is a wolf around.

“Yes Mum!” – Said Little Red Riding hhood.

Little Red Riding Hood walked happily to her grandmother’s house, but suddenly, a wolf appeared.

– Where are you going, Little Red Riding Hood?

– To my granny´s house, to give her these cakes.

The wolf convinced the girl to take a longer path while he took the short path, so he could arrive before her and eat her grandmother. Then he ate Little red Riding Hood.

Later, after eating them, the wolf fell asleep beside the river. Suddenly, a woodcutter saw him and took the little girl and her granny out of the wolf´s stomach and saved their lives.

Then he filled the wolf´s belly full of big stones and threw him into the river.

THE END

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD, ORIGINAL SHORT STORY, BROTHERS GRIMM (1812)

Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she wouldn’t give to the child. Once she gave her a little riding hood of red velvet, which suited her so well that she never wore anything else; so she was always called ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’

One day her mother said to her: ‘Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine; take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and as you go, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing; and when you go into her room, don’t forget to say, “Good morning”, and don’t peep into every corner before you do it.’

‘I will take great care,’ said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and gave her promise.

The grandmother lived in the wood, half a league from the village, but just as Little Red Riding Hood entered the wood, a wolf met her. Red Riding Hood didn’t know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him. “‘Good day, Little Red Riding Hood!” said he, – ‘Thank you kindly, wolf.’ -‘Whither away so early, Little Red Riding Hood?’ – ‘To my grandmother’s’ – ‘What have you got in your apron?’ – ‘Cake and wine; yesterday was baking-day, so poor sick grandmother is to have something good, to make her stronger’ – ‘Where does your grandmother live, Little Red Riding Hood?’ – ‘A good quarter of a league farther on in the wood; her house stands under the three large oak-trees, the nut-trees are just below; you surely must know it,’ replied Little Red Riding Hood.

The wolf thought to himself: ‘What a tender young creature! what a nice plump mouthful – she will be better to eat than the old woman. I must act craftily, so as to catch both.’

So he walked for a short time by the side of Little Red Riding Hood, and then he said: ‘See, Little Red Riding Hood, how pretty the flowers are about here – why do you not look round? I believe, too, that you do not hear how sweetly the little birds are singing; you walk gravely along as if you were going to school, while everything else out here in the wood is merry.’ Little Red Riding Hood raised her eyes, and when she saw the sunbeams dancing here and there through the trees, and pretty flowers growing everywhere, she thought: ‘Suppose I take grandmother a fresh nosegay; that would please her too. It is so early in the day that I shall still get there in good time.’

So she ran from the path into the wood to look for flowers. And whenever she had picked one, she fancied that she saw a still prettier one farther on, and ran after it, and so got deeper and deeper into the wood.

Meanwhile the wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s house and knocked at the door. – ‘Who is there?´- ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ replied the wolf “She is bringing cake and wine; open the door” – ‘Lift the latch,’ called out the grandmother, ‘I am too weak, and cannot get up.’

The wolf lifted the latch, the door sprang open, and without saying a word he went straight to the grandmother’s bed, and devoured her. Then he put on her clothes, dressed himself in her cap, laid himself in bed and drew the curtains.

Little Red Riding Hood, however, had been running about picking flowers, and when she had gathered so many that she could carry no more, she remembered her grandmother, and set out on the way to her. She was surprised to find the cottage-door standing open, and when she went into the room, she had such a strange feeling that she said to herself: ‘Oh dear! how uneasy I feel today, and at other times I like being with grandmother so much.’ She called out: ‘Good morning,’ but received no answer; so she went to the bed and drew back the curtains. There lay her grandmother with her cap pulled far over her face, and looking very strange.

‘Oh! grandmother,’ she said, ‘what big ears you have!’ – ‘All the better to hear you with, my child,’ was the reply’ – “But, grandmother, what big eyes you have!’ she said – ‘All the better to see you with, my dear” – ‘But, grandmother, what large hands you have!’ – ‘All the better to hug you with’ – ‘Oh! but, grandmother, what a terrible big mouth you have!’ – ‘All the better to eat you with!’ And scarcely had the wolf said this, than with one bound he was out of bed and swallowed up Red Riding Hood.

When the wolf had appeased his appetite, he lay down again in the bed, fell asleep and began to snore very loud. The huntsman was just passing the house, and thought to himself: ‘How the old woman is snoring! I must just see if she wants anything.’ So he went into the room, and when he came to the bed, he saw that the wolf was lying in it.

‘Do I find you here, you old sinner!’ said he. ‘I have long sought you!’ But just as he was going to fire at him, it occurred to him that the wolf might have devoured the grandmother, and that she might still be saved, so he did not fire, but took a pair of scissors, and began to cut open the stomach of the sleeping wolf.

When he had made two snips, he saw the little red riding hood shining, and then he made two snips more, and the little girl sprang out, crying: ‘Ah, how frightened I have been! How dark it was inside the wolf.’ After that the aged grandmother came out alive also, but scarcely able to breathe. Red Riding Hood, however, quickly fetched great stones with which they filled the wolf’s belly, and when he awoke, he wanted to run away, but the stones were so heavy that he collapsed at once, and fell dead.

Then all three were delighted. The huntsman drew off the wolf’s skin and went home with it; the grandmother ate the cake and drank the wine which Red Riding Hood had brought, and revived. But Red Riding Hood thought to herself: ‘As long as I live, I will never leave the path by myself to run into the wood, when my mother has forbidden me to do so.’

Once upon a time, there was a wolf called Howler who lived in a valley where lots of fruit trees grew. Howler would often try to climb up the trees to eat the fruit they produced. But the most appetising fruit was on the very tall trees that Howler couldn’t reach.

In the valley, an elderly man named Martin also had a few fruit trees that he looked after very carefully. But as he was getting older, he began to notice that he lacked the strength to pick the fruit, for it was very tiring work.

Martin had some of the biggest and most delicious fruit trees in the valley, which was why Howler had his eye on them. So one day he decided to try and reach their fruit and started jumping up and down the trunk.

Martin, who was looking out of the window, realised that the wolf was trying to steal fruit from his beautiful trees, but however much Howler jumped and howled, he couldn’t reach even the lowest branches of such a big tree.

Seeing this, Martin had a great idea: he offered Howler a ladder to climb up, but in return the wolf would have to give him half of whatever he picked. Only then would Martin continue lending him the ladder.

Howler accepted the deal and set to work collecting the fruit, and for one whole morning he went up and down the ladder filling his basket with the fruit they would then share between them.

Howler soon realised that he could eat double the fruit if he didn’t have to give Martin his share, so he thought up a new, secret plan… Martin, on the other hand, trusted Howler and even began to think they would be friends for ever.

But the greedy wolf managed to rob the ladder from Martin and went off to other trees in the area for more fruit. Realising that it was missing, Martin went looking for it… found it… grabbed the ladder, and then gave Howler such a whack with it that all the fruit the wolf had eaten came flying out of his mouth.

Martin felt very disappointed at the trick and no longer trusted Howler. But he still forgave the greedy wolf and they later became friends again, though he never made any more deals with him.

But Howler learned that we shouldn’t trick people and that promises are made to be kept. He also learned that if he had been honest and not greedy, he would still have been able to enjoy some delicious fruit – even though it was only half of what he would have got alone.
