Short Stories for Kids written by: Rosa Godoy Mendez.

– “Peter! Pick up your toys!” – said his mum for the fifth time.

But Peter was so excited with his new video game, that he didn´t obey his mother.

– “Please, Peter, I´m not repeating it again, it´s time to have a shower and then eat dinner”.

Peter reluctantly stopped playing the last video game of a game saga he was collecting; “Pirates from the cursed island”. It was super interesting.

After dinner, his mum asked Peter to help her clear the table, but Peter ran to his room to continue playing the video game, instead of picking up the dirty dishes.

– “This kid is such a disaster! Have you seen the bathroom? Peter, pick up your clothes! Peter! Peteeeeeeer!!”

The next day, Peter woke up wondering why his mum hadn´t called him at the same time as always to go to school. He went downstairs to the kitchen and what a surprise when there at the table sat was One-eyed Captain! the pirate from his video game!

– “Bu…but…where is my mum? What are you doing here?”

– “Your mum does not live here any more, she got tired of you ignoring her every time she asks you to do something. Now, I will live in your house with my crew, and you will do everything we order you to do”.

– “Bu..bu..but…”

– “But nothing, I was waiting for you to wake up to prepare my breakfast. Hurry up, my crew is about to come”.

Peter started working, preparing breakfast for the whole crew, and then had to clear the table, wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen.

After many adventures through the seven seas, the Captain and his crew wanted to take a bath. After the bath, Peter had to pick up all the clothes and clean all the mess in the bathroom.

Peter spent the whole day following the pirates, picking up everything around. When night time arrived, Peter was very tired, and he asked the pirates to help him with the cleaning. The Captain looked at him and all of them started laughing. Then Peter woke up.

He then understood that it had all been just a dream, and thought:

– “My mum might be as tired as I was in my dream every night. From now on I´m going to help her , and I´m going to clean and tidy up”.

That day, His mum could not believe what she was seeing. Peter helped her to clear the table and he picked up his clothes. She didn´t understand what was going on, Only Peter knew every time he looked at his video game.

THE END

Moral of the short story for Kids: People don´t value what others do, until they are in the same situation.

Values of the Short Story for Kids: Solidarity and helping the others.

Short Story written by: Isabella Gómez

Once upon a time, there was a grandfather called Ronny who organized a day’s camping and invited his grandchildren Michael and Jess.

Jess was very excited and asked her brother, Michael:

– “Hey brother, where are we going?”

– “To an Island”

Jess and Michael excitedly packed everything for their camping trip, and so did Ronny.

Once they had everything ready they set off for the island.

When they reached the Island they began their day’s camping. At the end of the day they Michael and Ronny were ready to go back home but Jess had eaten too much.

After waiting for Jess it became too late to leave and so they had to spend the night at the island. But they had no place to sleep, so Michael and Jess made a little refuge with dry leaves and they slept very well.

When they woke up the next morning, they were ready to go back home but something unexpected happened. A pirate appeared in front of them, and said that he would not allow them to leave because those who had spent one night at his island had to stay there until somebody rescued them.

The pirate stood in front of them and said:

– “You must stay until somebody comes to rescue you!”

– “But…why?” – asked Ronny.

– “Because you have spent one night on my island. If you spend one night on my island, somebody has to rescue you.”

Then the pirate gave them work to do.

He ordered to Michael and Jess to tidy up all the leaves they had used for their refuge because a Pirate island has to be clean.

While Michael and Jess cleaned the refuge, Ronny removed all the bread crusts they had left there at lunch time.

While the pirate watched them working, a peasant came to him and asked:

– “Why do you make them work like this? They don´t deserve it”

The pirate replied furiously:

– “Because they have spent one night on my island and so they have to wait for someone to come. How can I let them stay here without making them work hard? They have to tidy up all the mess they have made on my island”.

The peasant said, softly:

– “Ok, but I’m here to rescue them.”

The pirate told Michael, Ronny and Jess that somebody had come to rescue them.

Michael, Ronny and Jess then left the island. They were all very thankful and told their story to the peasant.

– “But why did you rescue us?” – Asked Ronny.

– “First of all, I live in a town where my mother gave me a good education. All peasants are nice to people in trouble like you. It´s important to help each other, and I will need your help some day” – “Bye, bye! see you later! My mother is waiting for me at home.” – he shouted from afar.

-“Sure, thanks, thanks a lot!”.

THE END

Once upon a time there was a bad pirate who used to attack the boats he saw.

He was called Ulysses and his boat was the biggest and fastest boat ever known.

It was so fast that on Christmas day Santa´s sled flew across and the reindeers could not avoid the sails.

Ulysses the pirate was shocked and asked Santa Claus: “What are you doing here instead of giving presents to children?”

“I´m here to give you your gift” – said Santa.

“My gift?” – said Ulysses.

But suddenly, Santa Claus was gone and he had left a present on the boat.

Ulysses opened it and saw that it was Santa´s hat and a letter that said: ” Dear Ulysses; If you accept this hat it means that you have accepted a new job in which you will help other boats if they need it, and, of course you will have to distribute gifts over Christmas.”

“Sure, and what do I get in exchange?” – thought the pirate

“In exchange you will get the best gift ever. You will feel complete because you will be helping people and making children happy“.

The letter convinced Ulysses and he started his new job as soon as he could.

The pirate realised that helping people is the best job that exists.

THE END

One day all the people he had captured came home feeling sad instead of feeling happy to be free. “He is gone!” – they said.

There was once an invisible ship aboard which some wicked pirates lived. These pirates spent their days sailing the seas and oceans hunting for very valuable treasure – some hidden treasure that no one had ever been able to find.

The pirates and their ship were invisible, and you could only see it if you were a pirate too. It also meant that the pirates could get to all the hidden treasure before anyone else, for they wouldn’t leave a trace.

-

Watch this children’s story and connect English subtitles:

As usual, the pirates set sail for some hidden treasure that no one had ever heard of, but even so this treasure was very special for it guarded a big secret…

Following the course of the treasure map, the pirates were impatient to get there as soon as possible, for they believed it would be the best treasure they had ever seen. In no time at all, the pirates’ invisible ship had reached the treasure island and as they were the first to get there they were very happy.

Just as the treasure map indicated, they had to head inland from the beach by taking one hundred paces in a straight line, turning right and taking eight more paces – and there, buried in the sand, was the hidden treasure.

The pirates grabbed their picks and spades and starting digging as fast as they could, taking it in turns when one got tired. But after they had been digging for quite a while, they hit something metal…

“We’ve found it!” cried a pirate.

They had found an old chest that had to contain the treasure! So they flung it open to see the hidden treasure no one had ever heard of (but which had a map about it). But to their horror, the chest was full of sand and had a piece of parchment inside it.

Extremely annoyed, one of the pirates picked up the scroll to see if it told them where the treasure really was. He began reading: “If you have succeeded in getting this far, it is because you are not content with what you already have. You wish only to be richer and richer. Well, don’t bother looking any further, because there is no hidden treasure – the only thing that exists in the scroll on which I wrote these lines. I was once like you, a pirate who was only interested in becoming the richest pirate of all. But then I realised that material things such as money are not the be-all and end-all. I hope you learn to understand this as I did.”

These words made all the wicked pirates think hard, for someone who had also been a pirate had taught them a valuable lesson.

THE END
