Once upon a time there was a kid called Arthur who went to collect halloween sweets. He dressed up as a pirate and, after finishing asking for sweets, went home.

Arthur went to his room after dinner, took his teddy bear and fell asleep. His parents wished him good night and kissed him happily to sleep.

While sleeping, a noise gave him a start and he woke up. Arthur looked under the bed and there on the floor was a giant! But Arthur was not scared.

Then he heard another strange noise from inside the wardrobe and it was Mr. Vampire. Later still, he heard a noise coming from the window, and this time it was a ghost.

The noises continued increasing inside the room without stopping. Arthur was worried when heard the door open but calmed down when saw his parents, who had biscuits and Arthur’s halloween candies.

Together they ate the biscuits and candies he had collected that terrifying day.

And that is the end of the story…

Short Story for Kids written by: shortstories.net team

This Short Story tells a beautiful story about a kid and his liking for halloween, but I have to set the scene for you first…

You all know about the famous day called Halloween, when everybody goes out at night dressed up as a monster, a witch, a zombie, Death or the famous E.T.

Well, many years ago, a kid called Lolo, who really liked short stories, decided to collect all the Halloween stories he knew in one book which he called “Halloween Stories”.

He began to collect the stories when he was only five years old in an old parchment book. In spite of being only five, he remembered at least ten stories about Halloween that his parents had told him.

When Lolo was ten years old he still collected stories and had more than one hundred stories written in his parchment book.

Soon, Lolo turned fifteen and was so proud of his hobby, as he was the boy who knew more about Halloween than anyone else at his school.

But when Halloween arrived that year, Lolo suddenly disappeared from the land of the living…dying in mysterious circumstances.

His parents found him in his bedroom, dressed up as a zombie with the halloween stories on his chest.

Neither the police nor the doctors knew what had happened to Lolo or how his life had ended, without further ado.

From that day to this, it is thought that Lolo goes out over all the cities of the world every Halloween night, dressed up as a zombie, carrying his Halloween Stories…

Legend says that his ghost won´t stop roaming the streets during the magic night until he finishes his Halloween storybook collection.

Do you know a Short Story about Halloween? Do you want to tell it to Lolo so he can finish his book? You might see him next Halloween…dressed up as a zombie, waiting for you to tell him your Halloween story…

…THE END…FOR THE MOMENT…

Every 31st of October, Kingtown celebrates Halloween, also known as the night of the witches.

Kingtown is a mountain village situated up in the hills and it is always covered with fog at sunset, which makes visibility more difficult for its inhabitants.

One year, at Halloween, everyone was walking to the main square where somebody was telling a scary story, and with the thickness of the fog, it was difficult to see people´s costumes.

Julie was dressed up as a witch, and as she was walked to the square, she felt a shiver down her spine. The nearer she came the more shivers she felt, but she couldn´t see anything because of the fog.

When she arrived at the square she noticed that something strange was going on. Everyone was wearing the same costume. “They are all zombies!” – thought Julie, – “walking to the cemetery”.

A zombi passed near Julie and touched her, she screamed when she realised that it was a real zombi. She went to see another zombie to check if it was real too or just a costume, but it was real.

Julie ran away from the square trembling with fear, but couldn´t hurry too fast because of her witch costume.

Suddenly someone caught her arm It was a zombie, Julie started to scream “help, help!”, but nobody could hear her. Suddenly, an alarm clock sounded.

It was only a nightmare because of a movie about zombies that Julie had seen the night before. She had learnt her lesson and never saw a horror movie before going to bed again.

THE END

One day, Peter, the youngest in the class asked the teacher if ghosts existed.

– Of course not, why are you asking? – said Tom.

– My Grandpa told me a legend about a ghost living in a cave who scared children.

– I have never heard of such a ghost, just forget it, ghosts don´t exist. – said the teacher – Well, class is over, have a nice weekend!

A long time ago in a faraway forest, lived a monster. All the animals were scared of it and always ran away from him.

The monster always looked angry, and those who had seen his face said that his eyes reflected the evil that was in his heart.

One day, a beautiful hummingbird, drinking in a big lake, saw lots of animals running to the North of the forest. The beautiful bird asked one of the animals why, and the animal said: “If you want to stay alive, run!

The hummingbird looked into the forest and saw the monster, but instead of running away, decided to approach him.

When the monster saw the hummingbird, it looked at him, and the bird saw the kindness in its heart reflected in its eyes and realised that it was not an evil monster. “We will never be alone again,” he said to the monster, who smiled happily and became the bird´s best friend forever.

Every year, the Smith family went on holiday to their favourite campsite which was near to a beach.

But one year they saw something really strange when they arrived. All the huts and bungalows looked filthy and deserted. They were full of spider webs and the water in the pool was totally green.

The family were about to get out of their car to see more clearly what was happening, when something unexpected happened: The door to the campsite closed violently and they couldn’t leave.

Suddenly a group of ghosts appeared in front of the car staring at them.

One of the ghosts said: “Tourists! What are you doing here? You have ruined this place! Before this was a place of peace and harmony, and now it’s a cursed campsite!”

The family didn’t understand what the ghost was trying to explain. The ghost kept talking: “50 years ago this place was a field, but humans came and built a campsite and didn’t realise that under this campsite there was an old cementery and now we cannot rest in peace. So we have decided to stay and enjoy your campsite, instead”.

The ghost stopped and looked at the family and said: “But you look nice, Would you like to stay with us at the campsite?”

The mother started the car and drove away destroying the door. She kept driving until they arrived home. It was the most terrifying day of their lives.

THE END

The moral of the story: Sometimes it is better to be prudent and ignore dangerous situations.

John was a boy who lived with his father and his big brother in a small town.

John´s brother was really smart unlike John. Everybody admired him, even his father.

One day, John´s brother injured his hand in a domestic accident and it started to bleed. His father went to John and said “John, your brother´s hand is bleeding, don´t look at him, you might be afraid”.

John didn´t understand his father and asked him – “What is fear?”.- His father couldn’t believe what he was saying, – “You don’t know what fear means? Ok, go to the woods and you will discover what it means”. And so that is what John did.

Over the first three months Fearless John lived through lots of adventures, fighting savages bears, poisenous snakes, and scary ghosts, but he still didn´t know the meaning of fear.

One night, John came to a big castle in the middle of the woods. It was really old and there was something written on the door: “The one who dares to spend three nights in this castle and survives will marry the princess”.

Fearless John decided to try to spent three nights in the castle. Even if it was full of monsters, ghosts and dragons, John wasn´t afraid.

After the third night, the King of the castle came up to Fearless John – “You are the only one who has survived and so you will marry my daughter!”- said the King. That is how fearless John became a prince and married the beautiful princess Mary.

One day, prince John was sleeping with his wife, when she threw a jug of water of water over him as she wanted him to wake up. Fearless John jumped out of bed and said – “Princess! Now I know what fear means!”

THE END.

Once upon a time, in the middle of a forest, there was a grey house that looked rather frightening. It seemed as if no one lived there, for the windows were full of spider webs and the glass was so filthy it was impossible to see inside the house.

But in fact there was someone living there… a witch known all around the world as “the twitchy witch“. The twitchy witch had a wart right on the tip of her big nose, big black eyes and grey-and-white hair. She was a witch all right, a very ugly witch, and she was scary to look at.

The twitchy witch had always lived in the forest, and on certain days of the year she would go into the village a few kilometres away and frighten the people who lived there.

Today was one of the days that our witch, the twitchy witch, went into the village. Like all witches, she used her broom to get from place to place. So, dressed in dark clothing, she put on her pointy black hat, picked up her broom and set off.

It was getting dark by the time the twitchy witch arrived at the village. When some of the villagers out on the streets saw the silhouette of the twitchy witch flying atop her broom, they went running to their houses as fast as the blink of an eye.

The twitchy witch couldn’t stop cackling to see the people flee in fear.

But suddenly a little voice from the street called up at the witch: “Are you the twitchy witch?” cried a little boy who couldn’t have been more than 6 years old.

The witch halted on her flying broom, stared at the boy and wondered why he hadn’t run away like everyone else. So she answered: “Yes, I’m the twitchy witch!”

Then the boy asked: “Why do you come to the village to frighten people?”

The witch was puzzled. After a little while thinking about it, she eventually replied: “I’m going to tell you a secret, little boy. You can see for yourself that we witches are ugly; we have warts on our noses and we fly on broomsticks, and the only thing we do when we come to the village is buy food. But when people see us they get scared…”

“So… you’re not wicked? And you don’t want to harm children and their mums and dads?” asked the little boy.

“Of course not!!! We just want to buy our food and go back to the forest. I’d love to be able to walk down the street without anyone running away[S1] …” answered the witch, looking sad.

So the little boy decided to tell the whole village the true story, and went from house to house telling people that witches were good and wouldn’t hurt a fly.

And that was how it came about that the witches began to live alongside the villagers without scaring them, and the villagers learned to value a person’s character and not their appearance, because sometimes looks can be deceiving.

THE END
