In a faraway city, four beautiful girls lived with their Mum and their Dad. The girls loved Christmas, especially the presents they were given.

One day, the girls asked their father:

– “Does Santa put magic powder taken from fairies over his reindeers so they can fly?”

And their Dad replied: “No. That’s not true”.

Their Mum reprimanded their father for the answer he gave the girls:

“Of course fairies exist”, she said, “and they help Santa give beautiful presents to all children“.

When the girls woke up the next day, they exitedly ran to the Christmas tree. When they saw that Santa had left presents they believed the story their mum had told them and were very happy.

and they spent the whole day full of excitement, playing with all their new toys.

And that is the end of the story…

Once upon a time, there was a girl called Sussi. She was living with her mum and dad and her sister Andrea.

Sussi was a beautiful girl, nice and lovely who was always helping and she loved her family so much.

One day, her parents gave her a nice pair of blue shoes for her birthday. And her sister Andrea gave her a nice colorful ball.

Sussi was amazed by her blue shoes and did not care the colorful ball her sister had given her.

Days passed… She always wore her blue shoes, went to school in her blue shoes, went for walks in her blue shoes and played in her blue shoes. She even went to sleep wearing her blue shoes.

Her mum had to wait until she fell asleep to take her blue shoes off.

More days passed. Her shoes started to get old because she used them for everything.

One day, her sister Andrea, hid her blue shoes and Sussi became really sad, because she wanted them, she didn’t want to wear other shoes, because these were her favorite shoes.

Andrea, her sister, could not bear to see her sister so sad so she gave her back her blue shoes.

When Sussi saw her old blue shoes was really happy, and jumped with joy.

One day, Sussi saw a small hole in the sole of her blue shoes, and ran to show to her mum. Her mum told her that it was time to change her shoes, but Sussi did not want any others.

Her mum talked to her explaining that many things in life do not last forever, including blue shoes, and that we have to learn to get rid of those things we really like.

Sussi’s mum bought her another pair of beautiful shoes which were white this time. Sussi was so happy when saw her new white shoes.

THE END

Moral of the Short Story for Kids: Nothing lasts forever, we have to learn to accept new things.

There was a girl called Anna, who was studying in Esmarth Vil, a primary school in the United States.

She was the most hardworking girl at her school, her marks were higher than the others. She was the best, but nobody wanted to be her friend. They didn´t want to play with her and teased her.

One day, the teacher set an exam and a boy called Robert signed his exam using Ana´s name. So, when the teacher returned all the exams, everybody was shocked. Anna found out she had failed the exam, and the other kids were happy of this.

The next day, when Anna arrived at school all the kids wanted to be with her and invited her to play with them. Suddenly, when Anna was playing with the other children, the teacher appeared to inform her that there had been a mistake, and she hadn´t failed.

The teacher explained them what had happened and afterwould, they all stopped playing with Anna.

One day, the First Lady of the United States went to visit the school. She wanted to visit every child in every schools. During her visit, the First Lady saw that Anna was crying and so she said:

– “What is your name?”

The girl answered: “Anna”

And the First Lady asked her why was she crying, Anna explained what had happened. She told her how the other kids didn’t like her just because she was the most hardworking at the school and she always got good results.

Then, the First Lady took the school microphone and told stories about her childhood that were similar to Anna´s.

After her speech all the children realized that they had been rude to Anna, and felt sorry. They should have been happy to have a friend that got such good marks and made such a big effort at school.

Then they followed Anna’s example and their marks began to improve and they always played together without ignoring her or anyone else.

From then on they were very happy and learned the lesson of respecting others.

And that is the end of the story…

Once upon a time…

…there was a girl called Vicky, who had studying first grade in elementary school, but she was not happy at her school.

As her parents wanted to please her they sent her to start her second grade in a different elementary school.

She was very happy and wanted to make new friends and hung around her new school asking everybody: “Do you want to be my friend?”

But she made a mistake. She wanted to be so popular that she joined a group of popular girls at school, but not in the right way.

They had a leader called Jenny who was nice at the beginning, and became Vicky´s best friend. But Vicky didn´t realize that by joining up with her she was going to suffer so much damage.

Vicky started to change as soon as she met Jenny. Her personality was not as sweet as before, she became more arrogant and didn´t want Vicky to have many friends. Jenny was also a terrible gossip.

Time passed and the insults and gossip got worse until the time came when Vicky’s marks began to go down. Things got even worse. She barely had any friends and she started not to care about her friends, and talked to them in a rude way instead of being nice.

Then after all that suffering, the day arrived when they told her that Jenny was not going to be in her school next year as she was moving. Vicky was happier but didn´t believe it.

But on the last day at school Jenny told Vicky that she was leaving. Instead of having a happy parting, Jenny told her that she only liked her because of her money and that she never felt that she was her true friend.

Vicky was very upset and started crying.

When the summer holidays finished, Vicky went back to school convinced that all the bad times she had suffered last year with Jenny were over but she got very upset when she found out that her classmates hadn´t forgotten and still resented Vicky.

Vicky didn´t understand this but then a new light arrived in the name of Ivonne. She supported Vicky, even when the others told her not to join her because she was not the same any more and was a bad person. Ivonne didn´t care and kept being her friend, as she thought she needed another chance.

A year passed and they were in their fifth year. It was the last year for Vicky at that school because she was moving away, so that year she decided to get the best marks possible and change everybody’s mind so thaqt they would think she was a good person and be her friends again.

Her class mates understood it had not been her fault but that it had been because Jenny was bad to her.

She told them that it was not worth making an effort to disappoint people and that they had to move on with the help of their loved ones.

Vicky moved away, but was so happy knowing that she had finally got what she had tried to get over four long years. She became everybody’s friend and finally cried with joy, knowing that it does not matter what the others say, but that you must never give up, but be yourself.

And that is the end of the story.

Values of the Short Story for Kids: Friendship, forgiveness, solidarity.

Short Stories for kids written by: Franca Gordillo.

This story begins in a little town in southern Italy, where the only way of life is to cultivate the small parcels of land that have been inherited from generation to generation.

This is the story of a peasant family, in which Anthony and Natalie, are the parents of Joan, Peter, Mary, Rose and Mimi.

It wasn´t easy to live there, because the Second World War had finished not long ago and so they all had to work hard, without exception, to cultivate land made up more of stones than productive soil, so they had to work even harder.

But they were united, and were able to turn their arid land into fertile land, and thanks to the harvest were also able to feed their family, live an honest life with dignity albeit without any luxuries.

One day, while they were doing their daily hard work, they got some suprising news, there was a new heir on the way.

The news created many expectations, but the biggest expectation was Peter´s because he was the only boy who wanted to have a “little brother”.

Time passed, and the expected baby was born, but it was not a boy but a girl.

Peter´s disappointment was so deep that hev could not hide it. But Natalie, using her mum´s wisdom, that you can’t get everything you may want from nothing, comforted him saying:

– “Son, you have to be happy with your new sister, and if you are, I will let you name her”.

Peter felt so proud and came to his senses. And so, in this way, Phoebe was born (also the name of Peter´s girlfriend).

Phoebe began her life surrounded by nature and her family. She went to the fields every day and working with the others she was happy, had no worries and being always attentive was able to take care of all of them.

But the little girl had had a special problem since she was very young, she didn´t like wearing the same clothes two days in a row and there was no way to comfort her. It was incredible to see how she saw everything around her as so small and how she cried when she did not like something.

So, Natalie intervened again, she didn´t talk too much but she acted with wisdom. Would you like to know what Natalie did?

…She took off Phoebe’s dress, and nervously turned away to hide what she was doing. Then she turned the dress inside-out, and looking back at the girl said:

– “Look! I’ve just got you a new dress!

And the 3 year old girl being so innocent, wore her new dress very happily.

THE END

Moral of the Short Story: There is no need to have many things. To value what you have is what matters. Besides, you don´t need many things to be happy if you have love.

– “Peter! Pick up your toys!” – said his mum for the fifth time.

But Peter was so excited with his new video game, that he didn´t obey his mother.

– “Please, Peter, I´m not repeating it again, it´s time to have a shower and then eat dinner”.

Peter reluctantly stopped playing the last video game of a game saga he was collecting; “Pirates from the cursed island”. It was super interesting.

After dinner, his mum asked Peter to help her clear the table, but Peter ran to his room to continue playing the video game, instead of picking up the dirty dishes.

– “This kid is such a disaster! Have you seen the bathroom? Peter, pick up your clothes! Peter! Peteeeeeeer!!”

The next day, Peter woke up wondering why his mum hadn´t called him at the same time as always to go to school. He went downstairs to the kitchen and what a surprise when there at the table sat was One-eyed Captain! the pirate from his video game!

– “Bu…but…where is my mum? What are you doing here?”

– “Your mum does not live here any more, she got tired of you ignoring her every time she asks you to do something. Now, I will live in your house with my crew, and you will do everything we order you to do”.

– “Bu..bu..but…”

– “But nothing, I was waiting for you to wake up to prepare my breakfast. Hurry up, my crew is about to come”.

Peter started working, preparing breakfast for the whole crew, and then had to clear the table, wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen.

After many adventures through the seven seas, the Captain and his crew wanted to take a bath. After the bath, Peter had to pick up all the clothes and clean all the mess in the bathroom.

Peter spent the whole day following the pirates, picking up everything around. When night time arrived, Peter was very tired, and he asked the pirates to help him with the cleaning. The Captain looked at him and all of them started laughing. Then Peter woke up.

He then understood that it had all been just a dream, and thought:

– “My mum might be as tired as I was in my dream every night. From now on I´m going to help her , and I´m going to clean and tidy up”.

That day, His mum could not believe what she was seeing. Peter helped her to clear the table and he picked up his clothes. She didn´t understand what was going on, Only Peter knew every time he looked at his video game.

THE END

Moral of the short story for Kids: People don´t value what others do, until they are in the same situation.

Values of the Short Story for Kids: Solidarity and helping the others.

Once upon a time…

There was a girl called Lucy, who lived in a very small town. She had always wanted to have a pet, but her parents didn´t want her to have one because they said it was a big responsibility.

The girl was very sad, and her parents hated to see her like that. They felt great empathy for Lucy and so decided to buy her a pet, but unfortunately they didn´t have enough money.

That afternoon, the girl went out to the park and saw a little toad, she liked him so much that she took him to her house. On the way home she gave him a name: Ronny.

When she arrived home, her parents saw the toad and said:

– “What are you doing with that toad?”

And she said that as they could not buy her a pet, she had decided to take the toad.

Her mum and her dad got a bit annoyed, and told her that they were not going to take care of the toad. They wanted to take him out of the house, but Lucy promised she was would take care of him and that they didn´t have to worry.

Her parents trusted her and let her keep it, on the condition that she would be responsible and take care of him on her own.

After a few weeks, Lucy forgot to give him food and water. Her parents noticed this and warned her to be careful. They preferred her to set the toad free until she was old enough to have a new pet she could take care of better.

Lucy accepted this but the toad waited for her at the same place, and she visited him ever day.

Short Stories for girls and boys written by: Rosa Jimenez Peralta.

Once upon a time there was a girl called Dayane, she was very disobedient, never obeyed her mum, and her mum wanted to teach her a lesson. She punished her every time she behaved badly, but Dayana continued the same as always and didn’t care about the consequences.

She knew it was for her own good. Her mum loved her and didn´t want anything bad to happen to her, thats why she always gave her advice.

One day, Dayane woke up very early. When her mum saw her she told her to sit on a wood chair. Dayane didn´t want to, so her mom asked her to take another chair, but the rebellious girl said:

– “No!”

The chair moved and broke and she fell over. Her mom looked at her and said, “I told you” and laughed.

“See, dear daughter, I don´t ask you to do things to torment you, I tell you to do things for your own good, because I love you so much. And I´m laughing because I warned you and you ignored me. To obey is good, it is not a curse. Actually it is good, because I am showing you my love and you show me yours. If you don’t obey me I won´t know if you really love me. See what I want to do if you don´t change. As you always say, you have the obligation to do what I tell you to do, and you say it´s unfair because you have the freedom of doing what you want because you are independent and you don´t like me taking you out of danger. But if I order you to do something it is for your own good. Imagine living with a rude daughter. You wouldn’t like it when you are an adult, cooking, paying expenses, working, nobody would like you if you were like that. If you keep behaving so badly, I will have to send you to another place to study, but there, we won´t be together, we will only see each other once a week, or even less. Neither of us would like that, so, think about what are you going to do, I hope you change. I will help you to change to be a better person, if you do your part. We will work together to make you really happy, and I will be happy too if I see you doing well.”.

The girl´s eyes filled with tears because she knew that living far away would be difficult. She felt sorry and promised her mum she would change, and that she had deserved the punishment due to her bad behaviour with her mum.

From that day on, daughter and mum worked on their good manners, better education and, in short, human values that she had to learn. They lived together always and were very happy.

THE END

Moral of the Story: Always obey your parents, If you behave right, life will reward you. The love of a mother is the best in the world and we have to make the best of that love, demonstrating that we love her by obeying her.

Values of the Short Story: Obedience, love, recognising our mistakes, assuming the consequences.

Short Story for boys and girls written by: Daleinis Moran.

Once upon a time…

There was a girl called Sophie who really believed in Santa Claus, but the other kids didn´t, and were always telling her not to believe because he was not real. They were always trying to discourage her so that she would stop believing in him.

That year, on the 24th of December Santa Claus arrived. Even those who didn´t believe in him, saw him and he gave them what they wanted for Christmas.

From that moment, the kids always believed in Santa Claus, they knew he was magic and that he gave toys to all the children in the world.

They all agreed it was the best Christmas ever, and have always enjoyed Christmas since then. They asked their friend Sophie for forgiveness because they tried to take away her illusion and faith in Santa Claus.

And that is the end of the story…

Moral of the Short Story for Kids: You have to prove things before you decide that they don´t exist.
