Once upon a time…

There was a very pretty princess that wanted to meet a prince. She was always imagining him in her dreams, and she even made drawings of him.

The princess lived with several animals: the deer; the squirrel; the birds and the turtles.

The princess used to sing a beautiful song. Everybody liked it but the evil queen who knew everything.

The queen freed an ugly ogre to eat the princess but at that moment a prince appeared and saw it. He immediately caught the ogre and tied him up so he would not to be able to escape. Then the prince’s assistant asked if he could have his freedom.

As the prince had to run and look for the princess to keep her out of danger, he let his assistant go. The assistant went back and freed the ogre, who still wanted to catch the princess and eat her.

The princess was happily singing all the time when suddenly the animals saw the ogre. They ran to warn her of the danger.

“I want to eat you, princess!” the ogre repeated, again and again.

When she saw him, she quickly climbed up a tree. She was very scared and was about to fall down. The squirrel tried to save her, then just as she was about to fall the prince arrived and saved her.

The evil queen realized that she had not been good and was so sorry that she began to love the princess, dearly. The princess had also finally met her prince and so they all lived happily ever after.

Short Story for Kids written by: Daniela Yvonne.

Once upon a time there was a very brave horse rider who had a very shy brother.

One day, the king confessed them that the country was going to be attacked by evil forces. The day arrived after some time, and happened what the king had said.

The brave brother tried to attack back, but failed, so they made the shy brother fight against the evil forces, there was no other option than war.

The whole kingdom fought until the shy brother beat the evil forces and save the kingdom.

That is the reason why the shy brother was crowned, becoming a king. He made a big a big effort not to happen the same again, not to have to fight again, and to make sure that peace was to reign.

And so it was, everybody lived relaxed and happy with their families.

And that is the end of the story…

Moral of the story: The shy brother did not dare to fight until did it one day. Facing his fears, demonstrated who he actually was, to protect his town. That is the reason why he became the King.

Values of The story: Bravery, self confidence, effort, responsibility, overcoming.

There was a lively and playful little girl called Naomi, her parents and her brother loved her so much, she was a blessing in the house, filling the house with happiness and laughs.

One day, when she finished school, the teacher called her mom to warn her that had noticed that something was not going well with the little girl. The parents rushed her to visit the doctor, who confirmed that she had a serious illness.

But the little did not give up, and decided to fight against the illness, she was actually very fragile, was only three years old, but motivated her parents and her brother to don´t give up due to her bravery and her battle.

She had to get many medical treatments and studies, nevertheless her strength and determination helped the family to not shatter. Nomi not only overcame her fair to injections, she finally overcame the disease.

She is today stronger than ever, nothing can destroy her; and the most important, she has never lost her joy. She is a warrior, fragile as crystal, and and example of life to everybody.

She taught us that there is nothing we cannot overcome; and each child of the world should be a “crystal warrior” as she is.

Short Story written by: Claudia Aguilera.

When holiday season arrives, many fairies come to our world flying at night time, so nobody can see them. They are all very pretty, but there is a special one called Sophie, she is really pretty, with long red hair, green eyes and white skin. She lives in the forest with her parents.

She is mixed birth, half human, half fairy. Her mom is hundred per cent fairy. Is the first time she comes to humans´ world, she is ten years old, lives in the forest where all the fairies live. Is so happy flying so fast at night, over the sea, the parks, the roofs and the trees. The fairies meet in a secret park to rest every time they come to our world, form a circle, bring crowns of flowers and colorful wings, drink grape juice and cider.

During the beautiful night, with full moon and shiny stars, the fairies sing and dance near the lake with beautiful swans and a magic orange fishes that turn into birds when go out of the water.

Everything was so peaceful until a harpy arrived, she was a fairy before, but she didn’t act so good, so, the fairies turned her into that, she is called Desiree.

The fairies were scared; Esther, the oldest fairy, asked:

– “What are you doing here? Are you not supposed to be death?”

– “Oh, darling, I will never die, I came to see how are you doing, and I see that you don’t want me here”.

– “You chose your way, we were your friends and you decided to use your powers against humans”. – replied Esther.

– “I don’t understand why you have affection to humans, they are cruel to us, and we should do the same”. – said Desiree.

– “Not at all, what do you want? leave us alone and leave humans too!”

-“Never!” – said Desiree – “I’m going to dominate the world!”

Suddenly, the harpy hoisted into the air and a terrible wind began, the trees were intensely moving, a fire started around the forest, the other fairies began to cast spells on her, but she was so powerful that they couldn’t do anything.

Little Sophie was looking angry at Desiree, casting some spells, but Desiree bewitched her and the girl fainted. Her mom went to see her, was so angry and began cast spells on Desiree, spells that she had never used before, because were very dangerous, but she had to protect her daughter. The rest of the fairies did the same, and beat the harpy little by little, Desiree fell on the ground without wings, was dead , and evaporated.

The fairies sighed relieved, they hugged each other and left that place when sun was rising, went to their world. Years passed until the fairy Sophie turned 16, the age of majority in fairies´s world; and had a big party with all the fairies.

THE END

Short Story written by: Sharon Krager

As the school year went by, Amanda missed more and more days. I felt sad for her. Her Mother would pick up her homework and bring it back so that Amanda wouldn’t fall too far behind. I found out that she had to have surgery on her tumour and I was worried about her.

I found out that she didn’t live too far from me and then another friend of mine told me where she lived.

I made it a point of going to see her one Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks after her surgery. I knew that she was recuperating, so I didn’t want to go too soon. Her Mother met me at the door and welcomed me in.

“Would it be alright if I see Amanda?” I asked

“Well, she is very tired and I think she is taking a nap right now.” her Mother said. “ If you will wait here, I will go see if she is awake and feels like company.”

She was gone for a few minutes and then came back.

“I think it is alright to visit her for a little while, but don’t stay too long as she does need her rest,” she said.

I went to Amanda’s bedroom where I found her lying in bed facing the door. I entered and quietly sat in a chair beside her bed.

“Hi, Amanda,” I said. “How are you doing today?”

“I feel pretty good I guess,” she sighed.

Her eyes had dark circles around them and I thought she looked very pale. After she spoke, she closed her eyes and was very quiet for a long time. She then opened her eyes again and smiled a very weak smile.

“I hope I am not disturbing you, Amanda.” I said. “You just rest and I will sit quietly here in this chair just so you know you have some company for a while.”

I stayed for about twenty minutes and then slowly crept out of her room. She still had her eyes closed as I shut the door. As I walked away, I thought I heard the sound of wings flapping in the hallway right above my head. Her Mother was coming toward me as I stepped away from the door.

“Did you hear that?” I asked

“What dear?” Her Mother asked.

“I thought I heard the sound of flapping wings just now when I left her room.” I whispered.

Her Mother just looked at me and as I left she went into Amanda’s room.

When I got home I talked to my Mother about Amanda and how sad it was that she was so sick and had to have surgery.. I told her that I had visited her for a while and that I had heard the sound of flapping wings when I was leaving her room.

My mother just looked at me with a surprised look on her face. “Well, maybe it was a bird,” she said.

I went to my room and decided to lie down for a while. I reached for the book I was reading on the night stand and opened it at the page where I had left off the last time I had read.

As I settled to read I heard that sound again. It sounded like flapping bird wings. It was almost scary. Actually, it sounded louder than the noise a flying bird would make. I kind of dismissed it and went on reading for about twenty pages before I drifted off to sleep.

I awoke to the sound of the phone ringing in the hallway. I could hear my Mother talking to someone, but I didn’t get up to see if it was for me or not.

My mother came into my room a few minutes later and sat down on the side of my bed. She leaned close to me and whispered that the phone call was from Amanda’s Mother. She told me that Amanda had sat up on one side of her bed and said she was ready to get up and eat something. . I was shocked and couldn’t believe it. My mother then held me for a long time. Amanda was so young and she had been sick for such a long time. I stayed in my room for a while thinking about her. I knew that I this was a miracle. She had been unable to come to school and her condition had gotten much worse lately. When I visited her, it looked like she had lost a lot of weight.

I decided that the sound of flapping wings that I had heard were not bird wings at all. They were the sound of Angel Wings. The angels had come to make her better. I knew that that is what happens to us sometimes when God heals us. I had learned it from going to church that sometimes a miracle happens. That was it……Angel Wings.

My mother and I visited her a couple of days later. It was very nice. There were lots of people that came to see her and we brought her a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

A few days after that I heard a knock on the front door. When I opened it Amanda’s Mother was standing there. She was holding Amanda’s pretty angel with big wings in her hands.

“Hello dear,” she said.

“Hi,” I replied.

“Amanda and I would like to give this pretty angel to you, as we know that you will take good care of it. We want you to have it.” She said. “ Please take it. I know that you and Amanda have become good friends and she is happy to have a good friend like you.”

I took the angel and thanked her for it.

She told me that Amanda was slowly getting better and that it would take a while for her to get back to being herself.

I told her that I understood and wished Amanda the very best.

I will always treasure that angel and my friendship with Amanda. Hopefully there will be lots of opportunities for us to make up for the time we have lost. I am very happy for her.

Short Story Written by: Sharon Krager

Tuesday was the first day back at school after a long, hot summer vacation. I got up a little early to make sure I had everything ready to start my first year in high school. This was going to be a great beginning of a great four years for me. All of my friends felt the same way I did. They were ready to get out of junior high and move up to the big school, Feldman High.

I packed everything I needed in my new backpack and headed down stairs for breakfast. Mum was cooking scrambled eggs and my big sister Anna was making toast. Anna was a senior this year. We would finally be in high school together for her last year and my first year. We finished our breakfast and piled into the car. Anna sat in the front seat while I rode in the back. It took about ten minutes to get across town to the high school. Kids were everywhere. I was getting a little nervous when Anna spoke up and told me that she would walk me to my first class and that she would probably run into me at lunch time.

The day was long, and there were a lot of new people to meet. I got lost only once. When I went upstairs I went to the wrong end of the hallway looking for my class. Luckily another girl was looking for the same class. We were a couple of minutes late but we explained what had happened and the teacher just brushed it off.

I got the chance to get acquainted with that girl at lunch time. She told me that her name was Amanda Peterson. I told her my name was Malynn Walters. We sat together and began talking about things. We hit it off right away. I noticed that she was very pale and that she didn’t feel very well. She told me that she had recently been diagnosed with cancer. The doctors had found a tumour in her brain a few months ago. She and her family had just moved into the neighbourhood. She explained that she had been taking treatment to get rid of the cancer and it had left her feeling tired sometimes. She said she and her family had decided to go ahead and let her start school because it seemed like she was doing well enough to try.

After lunch we went on with our classes for the day. I couldn’t help thinking about my new friend, Amanda. I did not know much about cancer, but I was sure that it was not a good thing.

For the next few weeks, Amanda and I became very close. She missed school every once in a while because the treatment she was taking made her very sick. I prayed that she would get better. My heart went out to her and her family.

One day she told me that some of the people that go to her church had come to visit her and had given her an angel with the most beautiful wings she had ever seen. She had put it on her dresser in her bedroom where she could lie in bed and look at it. She said it reminded that people do care about what she was going through and that many people were praying for her to get better.

One cloudy day Claudia decided to change her route to school and pass in front of an enchanted house, known by everybody in town.

Her grandmother had told her scary stories about the house when she was younger, and had warned her never to approach the house. But Claudia was very curious and couldn´t avoid the temptation of walking passed the house and looking into it.

With her grandma´s words in her mind, she put one foot in front of the other and began to walk directly up to the house´s porch.

She looked through the window but couldn’t see anything. She stood there observing the house, the dusty windows and the oxidized bars, and was so eager to know what was inside that she pushed one of the windows open and went inside.

She was in a big living room full of old covered furniture. She was a bit scared, but also excited. She walked cautiously up the hall and then into a corridor touching everything she found on her way.

Suddenly a little ghost appeared smiling in front of her! Claudia jumped backwards and screamed!.

“Don´t be scared, I´m not going to hurt you, my name is Caspy” – Said the ghost.

But Claudia was so shocked that she couldn’t say a word. Caspy noticed how scared she was and flew around the house acting as if he was hitting his face against the walls and then pulling funny faces.

Claudia started to laugh loudly – “Careful, ha ha ha!” – said the girl.

“Ha ha ha, don´t worry, I´m only messing about, I´m a nice ghost. I’m the house keeper”

“So, why do people say ghosts are bad?” – she asked him.

“Because people talk before they know. Not all ghosts are the same.”

The bell in the clock sounded and Claudia realised she was going to be late. “I have to go to school. Can I come tomorrow?” she asked.

“Sure! I would love you to, but please don´t tell anyone about me.”

And so she didn’t. Claudia kept her secret and visited Caspy every day becoming his best friend.

Matthew and Nicholas loved to go to the mountains for holidays. Their parents had a big house in a little village in the middle of the fields, surrounded by green meadows.

They were always playing with their ball in the fields near the house.

One of their neighbours was an old woman who took great care over her flowers and the kids parents had advised them not to play near her garden.

But when the old woman went shopping, Mathew and Nicolas took the opportunity to play in the meadows in front her house which were bigger and greener than any other.

One time Nicolas hit the ball and it broke one of the woman´s pots and the yellow flower that was in it.The kids were arguing about who’s fault it was when a lively and cute dog passed them and they had an idea.

When the old woman arrived home, the kids told them that the dog belonging to her neighbour who lived in the house opposite, Matilde, had broken her pot. This made the old woman unhappy and so Matilde´s mother decided to take the little dog back to the city as a punishment.

Matilde was very sad, because her dog was her best friend and she knew it was innocent.

When Matthew and Nicholas heard about Matilde´s mother’s decision, they went to talk to the old woman and confessed their guilt. Their parents were very proud of their courage and honesty, because it is better to tell the truth than to lie.

THE END

In a faraway kingdom lived a handsome Prince called Jamie. Unfortunately his father the King had died a few years ago, and it was his uncle who had repalced him just because nobody in the kingdom thought that Jamie was ready to be King.

Nobody thought the prince was brave at all, and that really annoyed Jamie who wanted to do something about it.

Jamie´s luck changed when he found out that in the upper hills of the village there lived a terrifying monster who was frightening the neighbours every night. It was red, with three eyes and it had a deep growl.

There was no man in town capable of capturing the red monster. They all tried one by one, but it was impossible. One night the townspeople got together and hatched a plan, but what they didn´t know was that Jamie knew everything and went ahead of them.

Jamie hid behind a big stone while the group of robust men tried to get into the cave where the monster was sleeping. Jamie crept stealthily inside first.

When he found the monster he put a bag over his head, tied his legs and took him to the Royal Castle.

When his Uncle saw what Jamie had done, he realised that he was ready to be king and announced his coronation.

Jamie was happy to have shown his value, and added :

– “You shouldn´t have assumed I was not ready to be King before getting to know my qualities“.
