Short Story for girls and boys written by: Graccgi.

Once upon a time…

…there was a mouse called Rudolf who was a very bad mouse.

One day, Lucy, Rudolf´s neighbour came back from shopping and needed help carrying her bags full of food, so she asked him:

– “Hi Rudolf, Can you help me to carry these bags, please?”.

– “No!” – Rudolf replied.

The little mouse girl started crying. Just at that moment, a handsome young mouse, called Richard, was walking along the street. He saw the little mouse girl crying and felt sorry for her.

– “Let me help you” – he said.

– “Thank you so much! – Lucy said.

Rudolf was jealous, even though he didn´t want to help her in that moment.

– “That mouse shouldn´t be near Lucy, she only asks me for help”, he said.

Jealousy made Rudolf behave differently.

– “Richard, don’t, I will help her” – Rudolf said.

Richard exclaimed surprised – “As you prefer!”

And from then on Rudolf helped Lucy any time she needed it. Lucy talked to him, and advised him not to be so mean, because he had to learn to behave correctly, especially when somebody offered help.

She also told him that jealousy was bad and could give rise to many problems. Rudolf realized that his attitude was not good at all, and started to change.

Years passed and Lucy and Rudolf fell in love, got married and lived happily ever after.

In addition, they became very good friends to Richard, who was a very kind mouse.

And that is the end of the story…

Moral of the Short Story for Kids: Don’t be rude to the others, be kind and help who ever needs it, this way you will be happier.

Short Story for Kids written by: Mariache (Nicaragua)

Our three friends lived in the jungle. They used to spend all day exploring the forest and then sleep huddled up against each other at night.

Napoleon, the dog, used to spend the day trying to catch lizards; Boy-boy, the cat, ran behind colorful butterflies, and Bubu, the badger, looked for honeycombs inside the trees and for insects on the jungle floor that he really liked to eat.

One day, they heard a strange noise. It sounded like an engine, and they also heard voices. But, who could it be? Nobody could reach that part of the jungle.

Those noises intrigued them, so they moved closer to the place where the voices were coming from and listened…

“We will be fine here! – a voice said – “It´s a good place to wait for the animals, I can see many tracks and footprints”.

Napoleon, Bubu and Boy-Boy left the place stealthily as they were afraid of being discovered. They were horrified by what they had just heard and discovered.

After recovering from their shock, Napoleon said: “How horrible! Those are illegal hunters!! I heard that they take wild cats, monkeys, parrots, toucans and other animals from the jungle, to sell them later at the edge of the road!”.

“Oops!! Thanks goodness I´m almost a pet cat and you are not in danger, Napoleon, as you are a normal dog, but Bubu is a badger, and they might want to capture him”. Then, looking at Bubu, Boy-Boy said:

“Well Bubu, we have to hide you, but not too far from us!!”

“Do not go looking for honecombs far from here! We have to stay together, this way Boy-boy and I will be able to protect you” – Napoleon said.

Then they were more relaxed and slept all together.

When daylight came, Bubu could not resist the temptation of going to look for some honey. So he went to the tree but suddenly…BAAAANG!, Bubu felt a rope around his neck and heard a terrifying voice say: “Look what I have caught! It’s a badger!”

“That is worth a lot of money, I know someone who will pay a good price for this animal”

Another voice said: “Let´s go, so we can be on the road selling our parrots, toucans, a baby leopard and this badger before midday”.

Napoleon and Boy-Boy were afraid when they noticed that Bubu had disappeared. They decided to look for him.

Napoleon smelled everything around searching for a track, while Boy-boy followed him. The track took them to the ilegal hunters campsite.

When they arrived, they heard a baby leopard crying, parrots screaming, toucans shouting and could hear the hunters putting Bubu, with his legs tied, inside the back of a car.

Without thinking about it, Boy-boy jumped into the car and Napoleon ran after him, because his friends were inside.

Short Story for Kids written by: Carolina Mora Arévalo.

Nobody wanted to be King of the Vegetable kingdom as it was such a difficult responsibility.

The kingdom was full of all kinds of colors, green spinach, orange carrots, red tomatoes, white onions, yellow peppers, and florets of cauliflower and broccoli everywhere. It was an amazing place full of health and strength.

Messages were sent out around the kingdom for them to choose a King. But nobody wanted to assume the charge. They all preferred other kingdoms like The kingdom of Sweets, The Crab kingdom, or even The Cold Meat kingdom, but nobody wanted The Vegetable kingdom.

Then one day, a little man called Luram, became sick. He was really weak and lost a lot of weight. He became very skinny and could not grow any taller. He was really sick, had no energy, and only wanted to stay in bed. Had no strength to jump or run around.

One day, a fairy called Lily visited him, and invited him to drink a tonic, she was sure that it would be good for him. It was made from the vegetables, pomegranate, blueberries and elderberry.

When Luram drank the tonic that Lily the fairy had prepared for him, he started to feel better, he was full of energy, wanted to play, run around, and jump again. Fairy Lily visited him again, to check how he was feeling and gave him another tonic. He said it was great and so, Lily told Luram:

– “Now you are heathy and strong thanks to the vegetables that you used to reject, accompanied by a few dried berries and fruit. So, it´s time to be thankful to the kingdom of vegetables by giving back the good it has done for you.

Luram started thinking about what might be the best way to do something good for this kingdom.

He first visited all those who were sick, invited them to improve their eating habits; showed them the importance of eating vegetables and fruit every day. Luram invited them to drink a bit of the delicious tonic the fairy had given him. It was so delicious that, when they found out what it was made of, they realized that they could drink it every day, or simply just eat the vegetables and berries it was made from.

The inhabitants of the kingdom immediately realized that little Luram was doing good and that he could be their king. Little Luram answered humbly:

– “I´m not ready to reign yet because I haven´t improved my own eating habits completely, and there are still people here that are not eating like they should. I still have to make everybody understand that not eating vegetables or fruit or berries can make them fat, nevertheless, I will continue working and will only accept the title of: Prince Luram of The Vegetable kingdom.

THE END

Moral of the Short Story for Kids: Do not reject anything before getting to know it.

Values of the Short Story for Kids. To share, Humility, good habits, etcetera.

Once upon a time…

There was a golf club called Golfy, who played golf every day on a golf links made precisely to practice this sport on the outskirt of the city.

The golf club was a marvellous golf player. He always won competitions and golf tournaments.

Well…actually, not always…because one day, a new tree appeared on the golf links, called Little Tree, and this tree really liked golf balls, and used to keep them by hanging them from his own branches at Christmas.

The golf links groundsman really liked this tree, so Little Tree became the golf links mascot.

Golfy, the golf club got very annoyed when he found out who was the mascot, because Little Tree always kept Golfy´s balls so in the end Golfy couldn´t play any more golf.

When December arrived, Golfy bought Christmas baubles for Little Tree, so he could hang them from his branches and so not keep the Golfy’s golf balls or annoy him any more. But Little Tree only liked golf balls.

So, Little Tree hung all the golf balls he had on his own branches and became an amazing Christmas tree.

Golfy didn´t know what to do, so he decided to strike a deal with Little Tree. He said, “Hi, Little Tree, you took away all my golf balls, I can see them hanging from your branches and I need them to play golf. Could you give them back to me? I will give you these nice Christmas baubles in exchange”.

The Christmas tree replied: “Golfy! Don´t try to trick me, golf balls are more beautiful than those bright, shiny Christmas baubles”.

Then, Golfy had a great idea. He decided to paint the Christmas baubles like golf balls, that is to say, white and with small holes.

He went back to visit Little Tree and said, “Little Tree, look, I am going to give you these Christmas baubles that look just like golf balls. This way you can enjoy your ornaments and also give me back my golf balls so I can continue playing golf. What do you think?”.

Little Tree thought about it and realized that in this way, both of them would come out winners and he also realised that he had been selfish and shouldn´t have made Golfy angry.

Especially, he thought, during Christmas because is time to think of others and not only of yourself.

THE END

Short Story for boys and girls written by: Chris Morales.

There was a girl called Anna, who was studying in Esmarth Vil, a primary school in the United States.

She was the most hardworking girl at her school, her marks were higher than the others. She was the best, but nobody wanted to be her friend. They didn´t want to play with her and teased her.

One day, the teacher set an exam and a boy called Robert signed his exam using Ana´s name. So, when the teacher returned all the exams, everybody was shocked. Anna found out she had failed the exam, and the other kids were happy of this.

The next day, when Anna arrived at school all the kids wanted to be with her and invited her to play with them. Suddenly, when Anna was playing with the other children, the teacher appeared to inform her that there had been a mistake, and she hadn´t failed.

The teacher explained them what had happened and afterwould, they all stopped playing with Anna.

One day, the First Lady of the United States went to visit the school. She wanted to visit every child in every schools. During her visit, the First Lady saw that Anna was crying and so she said:

– “What is your name?”

The girl answered: “Anna”

And the First Lady asked her why was she crying, Anna explained what had happened. She told her how the other kids didn’t like her just because she was the most hardworking at the school and she always got good results.

Then, the First Lady took the school microphone and told stories about her childhood that were similar to Anna´s.

After her speech all the children realized that they had been rude to Anna, and felt sorry. They should have been happy to have a friend that got such good marks and made such a big effort at school.

Then they followed Anna’s example and their marks began to improve and they always played together without ignoring her or anyone else.

From then on they were very happy and learned the lesson of respecting others.

And that is the end of the story…

Values of the story: Respect, friendship.

Short Story for boys and girls written by: Luis Muñoz (Spain).

There was a country house in a beautiful valley. It was very big, beautiful, built with good taste, and full of details.

The owner was a well off landowner called John. He was a person who had a good heart, loved animals, and he liked going hunting.

He used to capture different living birds and put them into cages. He liked seeing the animals close-up, to take care of them and to protect them. Before capturing them, these wild animals lived in the valley.

John had a fifteen year old son called Josh. He also liked animals and birds, but unlike his father, he didn´t like the way his father kept them inside cages, without being able to fly around. Josh liked them to be free, in their natural environment.

Sometimes, when his father wasn´t around, Josh freed some of the animals as he could not bear to see them suffering in the cages, even if they were quite comfortable.

His father used to capture, gazelles, cats, zebras, leopards, eagles, owls and many others and he never noticed that some of the cages were open and empty. Then one day, he did.

As John knew his son´s wish was to see the animals freed, he knew that it was him.

Josh was angry and without thinking decided to leave the country house without telling his dad.

After some days, his father became worried, because Josh wasn´t back. He even started to cry thinking that his son had left him forever.

Josh was his only child, and John loved him more than anything, more than the animals, as this was just a hobby to occupy himself.

John asked some of the workers in the house to go out and look for his son. They finally found him after a long time searching. He was in another country house with a friend.

John’s workers told Josh his father´s desires, begging him to come back and saying that he could do what he wanted with the animals and the cages, if only he would come back home.

This gave Josh the permission to free all the animals, to allow them to range free around the country house and in the valley.

So Josh went to see his father and told him he was coming back to release all the animals. He said that the doors of the cages and the doors in the fence surrounding the house were alway going to stay open so all the animals living there could move as they wanted, in or out, and whether they wanted to eat there or not.

And so that is what happened. The animals went in and out when they wanted, even other animals that had never been caged, went there too. They liked going because they were well cared for.

Josh and his father were very happy because they had made the right decision letting them free. John didn’t have to go hunting anymore as the animals went to his property on their own. The country house was always full of animals.

So, this very united family lived very happily with their wild animals and birds, making sure to take care of them

Wild animals should always be free enjoying their nature and environment.

THE END

Short Story for Kids written by: Ulica Tizaber.

Once upon a time, there was a mouse who was a mouse and a pedestrian. He was living on a farm, because he was a woodmouse, and sometimes he made trips to the city.

As a mouse, he used to run all over the floor of the barn really fast, smelling everything that was similar to cheese.

He was very happy being a mouse, but it also had disadvantages, because any time a cat pursued him, the mouse got so nervous that it walked everywhere, banging his head on the walls, getting many bumps. But, as he was a prudent observer, he only met the cat a few times when his concentration lapsed.

Being a pedestrian was a bit more complicated, for he only used this side of himself when he went to the city.

He liked being a pedestrian, but this required more concentration and mental and physical effort.

On the days he went on a trip, he ended up very tired and sleepy. He wore a hat to be a pedestrian, and tied up his tail in order not to drag it behind him and get it dirty. His way of walking was like any other pedestrian.

He stopped at the zebra crossing, made sure the traffic light was green for pedestrians, and then looked to one side and then to the other down the street. If there was no car coming, he crossed the street with a carefree heart as he did not have to run half way across.

This woodmouse was a very smart city pedestrian, because knew how to behave suitably in any situation. This quality made him very special, so at the farm, he was named the traffic education teacher of all the animals. The barn was the place designated for theory lessons, and the city was the place to do practical lessons.

They all trusted him when they went out on a trip. Thanks to his experience, he soon opened an office in the city dedicated to: “How to be an expert on traffic education?”.

He became successful all around the world and, nowadays, the pedestrian mouse manages his own company, and is the most enterprising mouse ever seen.

THE END

There was a girl called Lucy, who lived in a very small town. She had always wanted to have a pet, but her parents didn´t want her to have one because they said it was a big responsibility.

The girl was very sad, and her parents hated to see her like that. They felt great empathy for Lucy and so decided to buy her a pet, but unfortunately they didn´t have enough money.

That afternoon, the girl went out to the park and saw a little toad, she liked him so much that she took him to her house. On the way home she gave him a name: Ronny.

When she arrived home, her parents saw the toad and said:

– “What are you doing with that toad?”

And she said that as they could not buy her a pet, she had decided to take the toad.

Her mum and her dad got a bit annoyed, and told her that they were not going to take care of the toad. They wanted to take him out of the house, but Lucy promised she was would take care of him and that they didn´t have to worry.

Her parents trusted her and let her keep it, on the condition that she would be responsible and take care of him on her own.

After a few weeks, Lucy forgot to give him food and water. Her parents noticed this and warned her to be careful. They preferred her to set the toad free until she was old enough to have a new pet she could take care of better.

Lucy accepted this but the toad waited for her at the same place, and she visited him ever day.

Short Stories for girls and boys written by: Rosa Jimenez Peralta.

Once upon a time there was a girl called Dayane, she was very disobedient, never obeyed her mum, and her mum wanted to teach her a lesson. She punished her every time she behaved badly, but Dayana continued the same as always and didn’t care about the consequences.

She knew it was for her own good. Her mum loved her and didn´t want anything bad to happen to her, thats why she always gave her advice.

One day, Dayane woke up very early. When her mum saw her she told her to sit on a wood chair. Dayane didn´t want to, so her mom asked her to take another chair, but the rebellious girl said:

– “No!”

The chair moved and broke and she fell over. Her mom looked at her and said, “I told you” and laughed.

“See, dear daughter, I don´t ask you to do things to torment you, I tell you to do things for your own good, because I love you so much. And I´m laughing because I warned you and you ignored me. To obey is good, it is not a curse. Actually it is good, because I am showing you my love and you show me yours. If you don’t obey me I won´t know if you really love me. See what I want to do if you don´t change. As you always say, you have the obligation to do what I tell you to do, and you say it´s unfair because you have the freedom of doing what you want because you are independent and you don´t like me taking you out of danger. But if I order you to do something it is for your own good. Imagine living with a rude daughter. You wouldn’t like it when you are an adult, cooking, paying expenses, working, nobody would like you if you were like that. If you keep behaving so badly, I will have to send you to another place to study, but there, we won´t be together, we will only see each other once a week, or even less. Neither of us would like that, so, think about what are you going to do, I hope you change. I will help you to change to be a better person, if you do your part. We will work together to make you really happy, and I will be happy too if I see you doing well.”.

The girl´s eyes filled with tears because she knew that living far away would be difficult. She felt sorry and promised her mum she would change, and that she had deserved the punishment due to her bad behaviour with her mum.

From that day on, daughter and mum worked on their good manners, better education and, in short, human values that she had to learn. They lived together always and were very happy.

THE END

Moral of the Story: Always obey your parents, If you behave right, life will reward you. The love of a mother is the best in the world and we have to make the best of that love, demonstrating that we love her by obeying her.

Values of the Short Story: Obedience, love, recognising our mistakes, assuming the consequences.

Once upon a time…

There was a worms community living underground. Their biggest wish was to be able of going out to the surface to see the light. The king of the worms was the responsible for them reaching the surface to see the light.

The king of the worms used to give a speech every month telling the news in kingdom. But he always said the same to his citizens: “Dear worms, this is a bad year, we are still underground and this year, we won´t see the light either…”, used to say sitting on his throne without moving.

The worms, after listening the king´s speech, used to go to the bar to be sorry about their pities and to complain about the horrible crisis going on…

What the worms did not notice is that they had the same crisis since were born, because they had never truly proposed to go out and see the light.

But one of the worms, called Merry, thought: “If the king of the worms is not capable of getting us up to the surface to see the light, I will create my own company to reach the surface, this way I will make all worms see the light”.

So, Merry started working while singing “I m a happy worm! I am a happy worm!”

Every time other worm passed near him asked: “Merry, why are you so happy? Don´t you know we are in crisis and we won´t see the light this year either?”

And happy always answered: “I run my own destiny, and I am convinced that I will see the light with my company”.

Merry continued working, ignoring the other worm´s gossips. And finally, after making a big effort, arrived to the surface. There took a flower to demonstrate he had arrived, and went back to the worms community”.

When was underground again with the flower, offered to the other worms, the possibility of fulfilling their dream of seeing the light under one condition: “I will be you king from now on”.

Even the current king accepted the condition, adding: “Merry has fulfilled our dream, and none of us wouldn´´t have done it without him Because Merry is optimistic. I was wrong, was pessimistic about the future and didn´t do anything to reach the light”.

That is how Merry, the happy worm, became the king of the community, and made expeditions with all the worms to see the light.

THE END

Moral of the short story: Work and move during crisis, look for a solution.
