Short Story written by: Angel Eduardo Espino A.

Long, long time ago, there was a sad kid living in a small village, he was so sad because nothing made him laugh.

One day, his sister called different jokers and comedians from all over the world, but none of them was useful. The kid was bored of their jokes, until his sister called the best comedian of the world.

The comedian told him some jokes, but none of them was useful either, finally, the kid pushed the joker, tired of his jokes, and he fell inside a trash can being wounded.

When his sister found out, went to talk to her brother.

– “Why did you push that man!?”

And the kid said: “His jokes are so boring, and I was tired of them”.

His sister orderer him to apologize, but he ignored her.

She went to apologize to the joker, said:

-“I am really sorry for what my brother did to you, he is sad, you make me laugh so much telling those jokes…Why don´t you try it again, maybe he laughs”.

The joker told some jokes again, but the kid did not laugh either, finally, the joker asked him:

– “Why do you not laugh?”

And the kid said: “I´m not happy without my mother, I feel that I am nothing; she died one year ago”.

“The past is the past, live the present although you miss your mother. You have to move forward, I´m talking from experience, I lived the same at your age, but I saw the positive and overcame it. Now I am going to tell you a joke again, if I may”.- said the joker.

The kid listened and bursted out laughing; his sister cried with joy.

The kid jumped and hugged the comedian, and also thanked him. He was so surprised that asked him why was he hugging him like that, the kid said.

– “Because you took out my hiding laugh”

The kid and the joker are very good friends since then.

THE END

Moral of the Story: Try to move forward and overcome your problems. Look at the bright side of life.

Short Story written by: Ramiro García

Martin decided to play in Brazil for at least two more years to relax with his girlfriend and not think about moving away. Days later, he went to visit Argentina, to visit the places his friends had recommended him. He went for a week because he had a friendly game against England coming up and he wanted to be in good condition to do his best and have a chance of being spotted, which is what he had wanted from the beginning.

When he arrived in England, he went to train and then to workout in the gym to be in good condition for the match. Martin started the game and was very happy to step out onto his own country’s pitch.

During the game when Martin had the ball, another player tackled him and kicked him and Martin had to ask for medical assistance. Doctors said that he had broken his shinbone and so he left the football pitch. When the match finished his colleagues wished him a quick recovery. He went home on crutches, and his girlfriend was crying. The doctors said he needed surgery.

A year and a half later he had recovered, but his contract with Brazil was about to expire and so he waited for a job offer from England.

Finally, the long awaited job offer came from Manchester City Football Club. Martin began to cry for joy. He could finally play in his country. He told his girlfriend and they went to England together after a big goodbye party with his old colleagues. He said thanks and then he left with his girlfriend.

Martin proposed marriage to his girlfriend during his convalescence and they bought a beautiful house when they arrived in England. Then he went to train with his new team and became a permanent player from his first match. His team won 3 -0 , and two of the goals were scored by Martin.

That is how his life went on, always fulfilling his dream.

Short story written by: Martha

In a faraway house lived a girl called Star. Her mum had called her Star because she said that some day would become a fairy: “When you are older, you will become a fairy, and will fulfill your wishes just by touching your forehead”, she had said.

Star was a beautiful girl who had long, wavy reddish-brown hair. Her big green eyes illuminated her cute face, and her look transmitted kindness. Her stepmother detracted from her beauty. She was living with Star and forced her to do hard work inappropriate for her age, but Star used to do it so as not to be punished and shouted at by that old woman who never hesitated to mistreat her.

Star used to dream about making real what her mother had told her. When she was alone in her bedroom she would touch her forehead and a little light would appear, and she then went to bed and dreamed of becoming a fairy soon.

Her stepmother´s name was Ursula. She was a cold woman, full of resentment. She wore glasses, and had grey hair always gathered in a bun. She was very very ugly, and envied Star for being so pretty.

One night, the little girl was sleeping deeply after working the whole day, when the awful woman approached her bed with a pair of scissors and cut her hair to shoulder length, then she put it inside a bag and burned it smiling with satisfaction.

When Star woke up the next morning and touched her hair she broke down in tears. but when her tears ran down her face, a shining light lit up her room. It was her mum: “Don´t worry my little one, your powers will defeat this evil soon and your hair will grow fast”, she said and disappeared.

Star felt better knowing that her mum was taking care of her and helping her. This gave her the strength to go on. Shev put a scarf on her head and began her household chores. Her eyes had no more tears left to cry and she felt pity for her stepmother.

Ursula expected to see her cry, but only saw that her stepdaughter was willing to work as always without complaining. This made her uncontrollably angry and she just wanted to hurt her more. So, that night, she went to Star’s room again but what a surprise, Star´s hair was longer than ever and a little star adorned her forehead. Ursula ran out of the room sreaming: “No! This is not possible!”

Once inside her room she felt an intense cold in her veins. She went to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror and realized that her face had changed. Her nose was longer and her hair was white and straggly. She screamed with horror: “I’m a witch, I’m a witch! Help me!” – and she ran and ran until she arrived to the garden where a big witches broom was floating in the air. Suddenly, the wind pushed her onto the broom and in seconds the evil Ursula flew away into the hills.

The next morning, the sun announced that it was a beautiful day. When Star woke up could not believe what she saw! Her hair was long and beautiful and she had a star on her forehead. She looked outside the window and saw the garden was full of flowers. The birds were singing happily and a soft spring breeze caressed her face. But her surprise was even greater when she saw a boy with straight, blond hair, smiling at her as he walked along the path. The girl felt her heart was falling in love.

A prince had arrived to live and share many happy days with her.

THE END

Short Story written by: Juan Pablo Urcola.

Once upon a time there was a very lazy and grumpy ship that really wished she had wheels. Every afternoon she went to the coast to watch the people on their bicycles riding around the city.

One summer morning, on waking up, she decided that after doing her work as a fisher of the seas, and after being dropped at anchor in the harbour, she would spend the afternoon dreaming of being a rolling “bike-ship”.

When the captain came back after his fishing trip, he left his ship well-protected and went into the town. Once alone, the ship whistled to a bike that was passing by and invited the bike on board. The bike was happy to accept, and her new friend, the ship, sailed her over the sea.

Miss bike began to feel sick after a few hours and the ship told her that the sea provokes travel sickness to those that are not used to sailing.

Once back at the coast, the ship gathered a bit of courage and finally said to Miss bike that she wanted to have wheels like her so that she could roll along and around the beautiful city. Miss bike promised to tell the captain. The ship hoped her dream would come true and that she would have big wheels so that they could roll and play and jump and roll along together.

The next morning, the captain decided to paint his ship´s old wooden hull. A wheeled trailer took her out of the water and she was very happy to be on it. They lifte the ship by crane and took her out of the water. When she woke up, the little ship was astonished when she realised that she was in the city.

Miss bike saw her passing and greeted the ship, riding fast but being careful. That day was a very special day because the little ship could finally fulfilled her dream, and roll along and around the city and play and jump with Miss bike.

THE END

John was a 5 year old boy who really loved christmas. It was his favourite celebration of the year and he always waited anxiously for Christmas to come.

One year he decided to study magic and learn how to time travel and so make christmas come early.

And so that is what he did. He learnt magic and then began to use it always. Every year when Christmas celebrations were over, John used to run to his room, sit on his bed, close his eyes and focus on travelling through time. Then after a few minutes when he opened his eyes it was Christmas again!

He did it for several years, until one day, while opening his presents, his mum asked him: “Tell us what you have done this year so we can be proud of you. What would you change for the coming year?”

John stood up and look at his mother and went very quiet. Everybody waited for his answer, but he didn’t say anything. Then he threw his presents to the ground and ran to his room.

John realised how many things he had missed. It made no sense to celebrate Christmas without there being a “rest of the year”. So he didn´t travel through time again and, from then on, he lived to enjoy every moment of his life with his family and friends.

THE END

Emily couldn´t wait for Sunday to arrive to visit her grandma and spend the day with her, cooking, making cookies and speaking with her Parrot.

She had a long blond ponytail and green eyes and loved the stories her grandma used to tell her after eating her cookies.

Every Sunday Emily waited impatiently for her grandma to pick her up. She was always nervous and anxious for her to arrive. In fact, Emily would cry until she got there.

When her grandma finally arrived, Emily jumped up and ran to hug her, and then hug Candy, her grandma´s dog.

Then they used to talk and sing on there way to granny´s house where they would begin their day together.

Granny would sit in the garden beside Emily telling her short stories while Candy ran and played around the house.

Then, at the end of the day, Emily grew sad again, as she didn´t want her grandma to stop telling her stories.

Her grandma always tried to comfort her by telling her stories she hadn’t yet told and they also talked about how many cookies they would cook together every Sunday.

THE END

Short Story written by: Griselda Acosta

When Johnny´s grandma went to visit him and his parents, she took her big suitcase full of clothes. Johnny saw that big bag and started to imagine himself sitting inside it and driving it as if it was a racing car.

When his parents were distracted looking after his grandmother, Johnny tried to open the luggage, get in and play all over the inside as if he was driving.

Her mother tried to stop him, but she couldn´t. He actually was a bit naughty and began to cry the moment his parents spotted him. But his grandma had an idea and told Johnny about Lulu:

“Lulu the lizard always looks after you, she observes when are you being a good kid and when you are not”.

Johnny imagined Lulu sticking out her tongue when he was disobedient and hugging him when was being a good kid.

Lulu loves Johnny and always takes care of him, observing his behaviour and helping him to be a good kid and giving him lots of love.

THE END

It was a rainy day, one of those days on which the rain looks beautiful.

Alex was looking out of his window anxious to go out to play waiting for the rain to stop.

The day was so grey that it looked sad. Even the trees looked like they were crying with so many drops falling from their branches. But Alex kept smiling.

The rain stopped after a while, and Alex and his friends went out happy that they could now play all together. The clouds started to disappear and the sun began to shine and just at that moment a big rainbow crossed the sky.

It was a beautiful moment for Alex and his friends who learnt to appreciate every moment of their life.
