Emma was a girl living in a very big house, had three floors, five bedrooms, two bathrooms and one kitchen.

She loved to play with her dolls like if she was a doctor. Emma was eight years old, it was an incredible girl, very kind, patient, playful and loving.

One day, her teacher asked them to write an essay and explain it in class about what did they want to be when they grow up, and why.

She thought about being sweets seller, went out of her house to sell sweets; but did not like it at all, because it was so tiring and it was too hot outside.

She was tired of thinking, so went to bed and dreamed she was a doctor. When she woke up knew she wanted to be a doctor.

She went to play with her mom as if she was a doctor, and loved it. The next day, told the teacher that she wanted to be a doctor because she liked healing people.

Emma´s mom claimed her that would have prizes if she studied. Like hugs and many other things. Emma studied hard to become an incredible doctor.

When she was 38 years old was a doctor. She had been a good girl every day, studied very hard, deserved many people´s congratulations, got hugs and kisses from her parents, who were very proud of their daughter.

THE END

A sixteen months kid´s ability is causing a stir in Europe. The Manchester United from England, wanted to sign him up.

The kid is called Matjaz Kranec and is from the Slovenian city called Maribor.

The world is new for Matjaz, like for any other new kid. He has been reared with football since small, he could hold and throw balls with his hands with only six months old.

His father used to take him to the field every day to train, and nowadays, with only one year and four months old, can hit a ball very strong with his left foot.

The little became very famous, and now, one of the best football club of the world, The Manchester United, from England, wants him.

English press visited him at home, interviewed his father to discover what kind of things can the baby do, when they interview was over, invited them to go to England to live.

There, they found a job for the father, and took the kid to train with the young divisions of the Manchester United.

Thanks to all of these, the kid is so successful, and his parents earn lots of money. But the most important is that they all live very happy in England, and are so glad that the kid has such a gift which enjoys every day.

And that is the end of the story…

New Short Story for boys and girls written by: Juan Pablo Urcola (Argentina).

Once upon a time, under a leafy tree situated in a beautiful garden, there was a little frog who had made a cave between the tree´s roots.

The frog Mimi used to croak every day until midday, when the sun illuminated her door.

When this happened, Mimi went out of her cave through moss and the morning dew, hiding somewhere, looking for flies, mosquitos, worms and ants.

One morning, while she was tuning her throat to sing her serenade as always, a big storm began, and drop after drop, the rain was so strong.

Hours passed, and the rain was not stopping. Mimi needed to go out to look for some food, but how could she get out her little cave with such a storm?.

One of Mimi´s characteristics was that she never gave up easily, she actually used to hatch a plan in order to beat difficulties and reach her purposes every¡y day.

Mimi hatched the next plan:

Number one: Search for fallen leaves outside the cave´s door.

Number two: Don´t be afraid at all.

Number three: Be really careful outside under the rain.

Number four: Tie the leaves and weave them together, making a little survival canoe.

Number five: Get on the canoe and have confidence, the plan will work.

And so, Mimi, the wise frog, went rowing through the garden, carefully and with confidence. Rowing through puddles in the graden, searching for her usual food.

Her plan was so successful that had food left for the next day. So, went under the leafy tree, the sun rays were already shinning after the storm, and she could enjoy what she most liked to do; croaking, singing, croaking…

“Croak, croak, croak, ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, I am singing because I am happy, croak, croak, croak, gribbit gribbit, gribbit. I am singing because I overcame my fair”

THE END.

Short Story (Part 2), written by: Mapy

The old turtle went into the cave and began to walk. Croky started to sing out aloud so the turtle could hear him.

The little frog sang louder and louder forgetting all his complexes, ensuring that the turtle could hear him from the cave.

His voice sounded clear and beautiful. Croky could not believe it, he was singing great and very loud!

Then he went inside the cave and continued to sing. His voice was like a speaker inside the cave, and lots of animals heard it from the forest and approached. What a wonderful surprise Croky got when he went out and saw all the forest animals there applauding and congratulating him, rabbits, squirrels, birds, deers…and, of course, his two sisters were there very excited, applauding him.

Croky couldn´t believe it. He actually began to cry with joy, it was the best day of his life!

Then he looked at the turtle and said: “Thank you very much, I couldn´t have done it without you. How did you do it?”

– “It wasn´t me, It was you! Your beautiful voice has always been there, but you couldn’t find it because you were only concerned with your complexes. You just needed to have self-confidence and believe in yourself ” – the wise turtle smiled and added – “Now sing us another song, we are all waiting for it!”

Croky looked at all of them, breathed deeply and began to sing from the bottom of his heart.

THE END

Short Story written by: Mapy.

In a faraway bog lived three little frogs that were siblings, two girls and a boy called Croky and they all loved singing. The two girls had a very nice voice but Croky did not have the same talent as his sisters and didn´t sing very well.

Croky had a shrill voice. He felt very sad every time his sisters sang and could not understand why he wasn´t like them. He would hide somewhere in the forest to practice, but his voice was always the same.

He was making a big effort to reach his dream, but it wasn’t working. One day when he thought he was alone he started crying. Suddenly, he heard a noise behind and stopped automatically.

He looked up and saw an old turtle coming towards him:

-“What´s wrong?” – asked the turtle

-“Well, nothing…” – Croky said – “Actually, I´m sad because I love singing but I´m not able to sing like my sisters who have great voices”.

– “Ok, so you think you can´t sing like your sisters,” – said the turtle with thoughtful look – “ok, let´s try something…”

The old turtle stood up and began to walk, Croky followed her until they came to a big cave: “I´m going inside the cave, you have to sing as loud as you can to make sure I can hear you from the cave. Try to enunciate clearly, meanwhile I will approach you little by little” – said the old turtle – “is that clear?”

– “It´s clear, but I´m not sure I’ll be able to.” – replied the little frog.

– “Let´s find out!, I trust in you!” – said the wise turtle trying to encourage him.

There were three friends living in the forest. A monkey, a turtle and a rabbit.

One day the turtle and the rabbit were discussing about who was faster and smarter.

The rabbit said he was because he could jump high and run fast.

– “You are wrong”! – replied the turtle – “I´m slow but very smart!”

Suddenly the monkey came up with an idea. If the turtle and the rabbit had a race, they would solve their argument.

The rabbit started to laugh – “I´m going to win ” – he said

– “We will see…”- said the turtle

The rabbit started the race very fast, and the turtle was slow but persistent.

In the middle of the race the rabbit got very hungry and found a pile of carrots and thought:

– “The turtle will never catch me, so it doesn´t matter if I lie here for a while and eat some carrots.”

After eating all the carrots he started to feel very tired.

“Ok, I will sleep a little bit, the turtle will never catch me anyway.”

And so he did. When he woke up he found that the turtle had won because he had been arrogant.

THE END

One day, he went for a walk and saw a sign in a restaurant saying: “Waiter wanted“.

Charles had no hesitation in asking about the job, and finally, got hired.

A long time ago, in a faraway kingdom there was a huge castle in which lived a young princess called Elisabeth.

Elisabeth had just turned 18 years old and every year when she blew out the candles on the birthday cake, she made the same wish.

Do you know what was the princess’s wish? Nobody in kingdom did, but faraway lived an evil witch who knew the young princess’s wish.

The witch was jealous of the princess’s beauty. So when Elisabeth was 3, she gave her a potion. From that day on, on every birthday a wart appeared on the princess´ face.

But when she turned 18, before blowing out her candles, Elisabeth made her wish, “I want all the warts on my face to disappear, please.“.

Her wish was never fulfilled and, as on every birthday, she went to bed feeling really sad. When she woke up, something unbelievable had happened. Elisabeth looked in the mirror and when she saw her face she couldn’t believe it. She had no warts on her face!

The princess started to shout; “My wish has been fulfilled!” and went out to tell everybody in the kingdom.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the kingdom, the evil witch was banging her head against the wall. She had made a mistake with her potion and from that day on, the princess would be prettier than her.

THE END

There was once a monkey called Monty who lived on an island that was largely inhabited by other monkeys. The most important scientists on the planet had figured out that climate change would affect this island very badly, almost sinking it completely.

So each of the monkeys decided to build a house on the highest part of the island to protect themselves from the floods on the day the disaster would come. Monty had designed his house to withstand a very big flood, and this required very big rocks.

All the monkeys built their houses in just one day, and then spent the rest of their time playing cards and enjoying their new homes. They all laughed at Monty, because while they had already built their houses, Monty had only drawn some plans. But Monty was convinced that his house could survive any flood and although it might take a long time to build, it was worth the wait.

So Monty moved only one big stone a day, which meant that his house took shape very slowly and the other monkeys continued to laugh at him. But Monty didn’t care, and went on building his house stone by stone.

After a few months, when the other monkeys had got tired of playing cards, Monty finished his house and very proudly threw a big party to which he invited all the monkeys on the island. But on the very day of the party, the sea level rose without warning and all the monkeys hid in their houses in fright. But Monty declared: “Monkeys of the island! I have prepared for this flood, and you all have a place in my new home. Whilst you were laughing at me, I was building a house that would protect us all from this great flood. Come in and you will find your rooms at the end of the corridor.” All the monkeys were amazed and went into the house.

And that was how Monty and all the monkeys watched the big flood destroy all the other houses except Monty’s. Then the island monkeys understood that Monty was the most intelligent of them all, as well as the kindest-hearted and most generous, for he had wanted to save them all from the flood without expecting anything in return.

THE END

Legend has it that there was once a time machine that belonged to an old scientist named Albert. This machine had never been tested, but Albert knew that his dream of travelling to the future would one day come true.

No one had any idea about what experiments old Albert had performed with the machine, but he declared that he was able to travel to the past and future just by sitting in the cabin and typing in the year to which he wanted to go.

The villagers thought that the old scientist had gone mad and that he was losing his mind. In fact, some would say: “Travelling to the future, humph! He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Albert ignored these comments and while they were all wondering if he really had gone mad, he kept working on the final details of his time machine. For more than five years, the old scientist had devoted all his time to designing and experimenting with equipment that could make his dream to travel back in time a reality, for he wanted to return to a very special moment in his life, the day his father had let him come into his laboratory to do an experiment together. That day was very special for Albert, for it was at that moment that he knew he wanted to be a great scientist when he grew up. Unfortunately, he still hadn’t achieved it.

One day, Albert was working in his basement laboratory as he did every day, when he had a brilliant idea. “Now the machine will work, I’m sure of it!” exclaimed the old scientist very excited.

After rummaging around in the kitchen drawers, he found what he was looking for: a metal colander that he would use as a helmet… After two hours inside the machine, he shouted: “Finished!!! It’s time to test the time machine!”

Albert put his time machine in a cart to take to the village square, where all the neighbours had gathered. Once everything was ready, he said: “Dear friends, I’ve asked you all here so that you will be the first to see the time machine I’ve designed. It’s my dream, but if it goes wrong I won’t lose hope and I’ll keep working on it. Thank you all for coming!”

So Albert got into the machine, put on the colander he had borrowed from his wife, and typed the date 1719, 40 years previously. Suddenly, the machine began to wobble and emit strange sparking noises, and in a matter of minutes, the time machine had vanished, with Albert the scientist inside it.

Everyone at the square was open-mouthed, amazed at what had just happened. Yet they had no time to say a word before Albert reappeared in the very same place where the time machine had been.

“I’ve done it, hooray! I travelled back in time!” shouted the old scientist ecstatically.

Then one of the neighbours who had underestimated Albert got onto a chair and said: “I would like to apologise in public to our neighbour Albert. I doubted his word and, what’s more, I even thought he was going mad. I’m very sorry, Albert, I shouldn’t have underestimated you. Congratulations on your time machine!”

And so our story ends happily for our scientist, for he had succeeded in making one of his dreams come true.

THE END
