Short Story for Kids written by: Ulica Tizaber.

Once upon a time, there was a mouse who was a mouse and a pedestrian. He was living on a farm, because he was a woodmouse, and sometimes he made trips to the city.

As a mouse, he used to run all over the floor of the barn really fast, smelling everything that was similar to cheese.

He was very happy being a mouse, but it also had disadvantages, because any time a cat pursued him, the mouse got so nervous that it walked everywhere, banging his head on the walls, getting many bumps. But, as he was a prudent observer, he only met the cat a few times when his concentration lapsed.

Being a pedestrian was a bit more complicated, for he only used this side of himself when he went to the city.

He liked being a pedestrian, but this required more concentration and mental and physical effort.

On the days he went on a trip, he ended up very tired and sleepy. He wore a hat to be a pedestrian, and tied up his tail in order not to drag it behind him and get it dirty. His way of walking was like any other pedestrian.

He stopped at the zebra crossing, made sure the traffic light was green for pedestrians, and then looked to one side and then to the other down the street. If there was no car coming, he crossed the street with a carefree heart as he did not have to run half way across.

This woodmouse was a very smart city pedestrian, because knew how to behave suitably in any situation. This quality made him very special, so at the farm, he was named the traffic education teacher of all the animals. The barn was the place designated for theory lessons, and the city was the place to do practical lessons.

They all trusted him when they went out on a trip. Thanks to his experience, he soon opened an office in the city dedicated to: “How to be an expert on traffic education?”.

He became successful all around the world and, nowadays, the pedestrian mouse manages his own company, and is the most enterprising mouse ever seen.

Once upon a time…

There was a girl called Lucy, who lived in a very small town. She had always wanted to have a pet, but her parents didn´t want her to have one because they said it was a big responsibility.

The girl was very sad, and her parents hated to see her like that. They felt great empathy for Lucy and so decided to buy her a pet, but unfortunately they didn´t have enough money.

That afternoon, the girl went out to the park and saw a little toad, she liked him so much that she took him to her house. On the way home she gave him a name: Ronny.

When she arrived home, her parents saw the toad and said:

– “What are you doing with that toad?”

And she said that as they could not buy her a pet, she had decided to take the toad.

Her mum and her dad got a bit annoyed, and told her that they were not going to take care of the toad. They wanted to take him out of the house, but Lucy promised she was would take care of him and that they didn´t have to worry.

Her parents trusted her and let her keep it, on the condition that she would be responsible and take care of him on her own.

After a few weeks, Lucy forgot to give him food and water. Her parents noticed this and warned her to be careful. They preferred her to set the toad free until she was old enough to have a new pet she could take care of better.

Lucy accepted this but the toad waited for her at the same place, and she visited him ever day.

Short Stories for girls and boys written by: Rosa Jimenez Peralta.

Once upon a time there was a girl called Dayane, she was very disobedient, never obeyed her mum, and her mum wanted to teach her a lesson. She punished her every time she behaved badly, but Dayana continued the same as always and didn’t care about the consequences.

She knew it was for her own good. Her mum loved her and didn´t want anything bad to happen to her, thats why she always gave her advice.

One day, Dayane woke up very early. When her mum saw her she told her to sit on a wood chair. Dayane didn´t want to, so her mom asked her to take another chair, but the rebellious girl said:

– “No!”

The chair moved and broke and she fell over. Her mom looked at her and said, “I told you” and laughed.

“See, dear daughter, I don´t ask you to do things to torment you, I tell you to do things for your own good, because I love you so much. And I´m laughing because I warned you and you ignored me. To obey is good, it is not a curse. Actually it is good, because I am showing you my love and you show me yours. If you don’t obey me I won´t know if you really love me. See what I want to do if you don´t change. As you always say, you have the obligation to do what I tell you to do, and you say it´s unfair because you have the freedom of doing what you want because you are independent and you don´t like me taking you out of danger. But if I order you to do something it is for your own good. Imagine living with a rude daughter. You wouldn’t like it when you are an adult, cooking, paying expenses, working, nobody would like you if you were like that. If you keep behaving so badly, I will have to send you to another place to study, but there, we won´t be together, we will only see each other once a week, or even less. Neither of us would like that, so, think about what are you going to do, I hope you change. I will help you to change to be a better person, if you do your part. We will work together to make you really happy, and I will be happy too if I see you doing well.”.

The girl´s eyes filled with tears because she knew that living far away would be difficult. She felt sorry and promised her mum she would change, and that she had deserved the punishment due to her bad behaviour with her mum.

From that day on, daughter and mum worked on their good manners, better education and, in short, human values that she had to learn. They lived together always and were very happy.

THE END

Moral of the Story: Always obey your parents, If you behave right, life will reward you. The love of a mother is the best in the world and we have to make the best of that love, demonstrating that we love her by obeying her.

Values of the Short Story: Obedience, love, recognising our mistakes, assuming the consequences.

New Short Story for Kids written by: La Ranita Josefina perez

Once upon a time…

There was a very brave cat called Bubu. He was always up to mischief and did not like to obey or help his mum. What he really liked was to go out and play between the small trees and flowers in the garden, while mum watched through the window.

One day, the little kitty climbed up to the window as from there he could watch all the houses around. He especially kept his eyes on one courtyard where there was a tree.

He wanted so much to escape and go there that, without measuring the consequences being adventurous and bold, left the garden.

Suddenly, he got goosebumps when he heard a bark and without a moment’s hesitatation climbed up the tree.

His heart was beating so fast and his paw got stuck between the tree branches. It hurt so much that he meowed for his mum. When mum heard her son she went out to look for him.

The worried mum found the tree and climbing up as fast as she could, carefully, untangled Bubu.

He cried and cried, holding his mum tightly and promised never to abandon her again.

Now Bubu is so loving, and he always obeys his mom since that day.

And that is the end of the story…

New Short Story for Kids written by: Rosa Godoy.

It was the first day of the holidays, and Peter was in his bed, feeling lazy, and not knowing what to do.

He had really wanted school to finish, but now it had, he did not know what to do. He reluctantly got up, because it was the fifth time his mum had called him.

He had breakfast and then sat down in the living room to play with his games console.

-“Peter! You are not going to stay the whole day here playing with your video games! Go out and play with your friends!!!”

Peter went to the park looking for his friends. but did not find anybody.

-“Ugh!!! what a bore!!!”

He sat on a bench beside Mr. Jordan´s Kiosk where he used to buy his sweets. The old man realized Peter was really bored and said:

-“Do you know what, Peter? I would like to have an assistant during the holidays. Would you like to come here every day and help me for a while? I am old and I need a rest”.

Peter´s eyes sparkled. He said to Mr. Jordan:

-“Do you really want me to help you in the kiosk? It would be amazing to stay here with all the amount of sweets and candies here…!!

-“Well, you will be able to choose a different one every night”. – Mr. Jordan said.

Peter had so much fun that day, and every day after during his holidays. His mum did not have to insist on waking Peter up again.

His was a different but great summer.

THE END

Once upon a time…

There was a kitty called Blue, it was a carey cat with many colors like black, yellow…like a night of lots, lots of colors.

One day went to a house with his brothers and sisters, there were fewer cats because were giving them.

When the day finished Blue was still there, nobody wanted to take him. Weeks and months passed, but nobody wanted him, until the owner of the house got tired of the kitten and chased him out the house.

He was cold and hungry…one day, a girl with a flower on her head saw him and took him home with her. Took care of him, didn´t separate from him in any moment. When her mom arrived home and saw the kitty, hugged him until the next morning.

-“I don’t understand how could such a small cat live in the street” – said the mother to the girl.

But that does not matter any more, we already have our pet who makes us very happy, we have to take care of him, we don’t have to abuse him nor chase him out of the house. Because is a living being; besides he is a member of the family, we will give him so much affection and we will all live happily.

THE END

Moral of the Short Story: Animals are living beings, faithful and kind, give us so much affection and we have to give them affection too. Respect and take care of animals. Love animals.

Values of the Story: Generosity and goodness.

There was a snail who really loved playing the ball with his friends Fray and Peter. They used to go to the park in the valley. A very beautiful place. But Florence was a bit sloppy with his own stuff and toys.

One day after playing, went back home without thinking about the ball. When arrived home realized that had lost it, and told his mom. She told him not to be careless with his toys and he promised not to do it again.

Went back to the park and asked Peter if he had seen a ball, he said yes, actually he had it because had found it behind a tree; so gave it to him in that moment.

The next day, he invited his friends Fray and Peter to play with his puzzle, and when they finished playing, left the puzzle all over the ground.

His mom called him to tidy up everything, but Florence was not at home; he had gone to play to the park with his friends; this time, he took his favorite toy car, but left it on a branch and lost it.

When he arrived home was so sad because had lost his favorite toy, so promised to his mom that he would not do it again.

She was very happy knowing her son had learnt the lesson, and congratulated him. Florence was not careless never again, he always organized his toys since then.

And that is the end of the story…

The moral of the Short Story: Don´t be careless with your things and toys.

Values of the Short Story: honesty, obey your parents, friendship, responsibility.

Short Story for Kids written by: Alarilla.

Toto was a nine year old boy, who really liked going to class because besides learning lots of things from different subjects, he could play with his friends.

His grandfather John was always taking him to school by the hand to protect him, because they had to cross a few streets where the cars used to go through very fast.

One day, going back home coming from school, they were about to cross one of the streets, when a car went through without respecting the zebra crossing and almost hit them.

Toto and his grandfather had a big fright, the car almost ran over them and the driver did not even stop to check if they were right.

The kid thought that he had to do something, because he had noticed that the cars did not use to respect the zebra crossing nor the speed limits.

Toto had a brilliant idea, he proposed to his teacher to make a road safety education week at school. He knew that the plan he had designed was going to work, and so, the inhabitants in town would be more safe walking around.

Each child had to choose a traffic sign and learn its meaning; then had to explain them at home so their parents helped them and learnt the lesson at the same time.

The last day of the week, the children got dressed up as a traffic sign, and walked all around the village teaching the meaning of the traffic signs and how important is to respect them to make the streets more safe.

The village was really surprised and happy for Toto´s idea. The inhabitants of the village remembered that lesson every time they drove a car, and always respected the traffic signs, and the local government put the traffic signs that were missing.

THE END

Short Story written by: Luis Muñoz

Lena, Margaret and Josh were three, 6 year old kids. They were very good, but a bit naughty. They were also very good friends at school and in life, and always played together.

One day, when there was no school (because it was Saturday), they played with Lena´s dog, who was always with them and was called Lily. Margaret said to her friends:

– “Do you know what? Tomorrow is Sunday and it is Mother´s Day. What are you giving to your mother?”

Lena and Josh said that they did not have any money to buy anything, and Margaret replied:

– “I don´t have any money either, but I thought that maybe, we could go to the field and collect some flowers to make a bouquet of wild flowers.”

Her friends agreed with this beautiful idea, so, the three friends and Lily, the little dog, went that afternoon to the field after lunch. They were so excited that they didn’t realise that they had gone far from the town. So they decided to go back home as soon as they had the big and beautiful bouquet of flowers.

On the way back home, they got lost. The three of them were very nervous and afraid. Margaret and Lena were crying, but Josh went up a hill to take a look at the horizon and check where they were. But he could just see fields. Suddenly he saw lots of trees and a river. Josh remembered that a river flowed through the town and that maybe this was the same river.

The kids followed the course of the river a bit scared, but their dog guided them to prevent them from any danger.

They walked for about an hour and then they saw the first houses of the village!

The sun was low and it was getting dark. Finally, they arrived home safely, still scared of what had happened.

They could barely sleep that night remembering their adventure in the field.

The day after was Mother´s day. Margaret, Lena and Josh gave the beautiful bouquet to their mothers. The three mums were very happy with their presents and the kids were very happy, but still could not forget the problems they had gotten into the day before.

This story teaches every child that they must never go anywhere alone especially far from town. They must always go with an adult and their parents, and be wary of strange people, and don´t accept anything from a stranger.

THE END

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who owned a flock of one hundred sheep. They went out every day to graze in the leafy fields. One day, one of the sheep disobeyed his master and escaped.

The owner used to advise them not to go far on their own because there was a wolf hanging around those fields that would hurt them.

The naughty sheep had ignored him and had walked away happily. After a while, the owner noticed that one of his sheep was missing and went to look for her very worried, leaving the other 99 sheep alone.

He searched but could not find her and this made him think the worst. Then it started to rain and snow, but the farmer ignored the bad weather and kept on searching for her.

Suddenly he heard a voice, it was somebody asking for help. The farmer ran to the place where the voice was coming from and found the lost sheep there. The wolf was about to eat her but the owner rescued her. Then he brought all his one hundred sheep back home together, and they had a big party to celebratethat they were all together again.

The sheep had learnt his lesson and never disobeyed her owner again.

THE END.
