New Short Story for Kids written by: Ana Isabel Martín.

Paul really likes playing in the fields. His parents have a little house in a small town near to a city, which they usually go to every weekend.

There, Paul could play near a small stream, where he could wet his feet.

Paul likes hunting bugs. He likes to hunt for crickets, frogs, and fireflies. One day, he caught a frog and went to put it in a jar. When he was about to pick up the the frog, the frog looked at him and said:

-“I will become a Prince if you kiss me”

-“Ugh! Disgusting! I´m not kissing a frog!” – said Paul – “And, why do you want to be a prince anyway? Nowadays everybody ignores princes. To be a talking frog is much better.”

The frog did not seem to be very convinced. He had always wanted someone to kiss him so he could become a Prince. His life as a frog had just been, waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting.

But Paul had just told him that to be a talking frog was amazing, unique in the world. Everybody was going to be amazed. He could even become President or Minister of the Environment or a Minister’s assistant!

The frog still did not believe Paul too much, as he wondered who would pay attention to a frog, but he accepted Paul’s invitation and went to Paul´s house.

– “You need a name”, said Paul, “What was your name when you were a Prince?”

-“My name was William Baltimore III” – said the frog proudly.

-“Ok, now you are called Willy, ok?” – said Paul.

The frog was not too convinced, but accepted anyway.

Next Monday, Paul took Willy to school with him, and there was an immediate stir. Everybody wanted to see Willy the talking frog. Willy made more friends in one day than in his whole life as a frog.

Willy was suprised, how could that be possible, so many people paying attention to him? He was just a green, sticky frog. Paul told him that he should not focus on bad things, he had to think about what made somebody unique and different from everyone else.

So, Willy completely forgot about the idea of becoming a prince. He learnt to read and write, and he read many, many books, and talked to many, many people. He even appeared on television.

But he never forgot that it was Paul who had taught him to live happily as a frog.

Paul and Willy stayed friends forever.

THE END

Moral of The Short Story: bring out the best of oneself and be happy.

New Short Story for boys and girls written by: Juan Pablo Urcola (Argentina).

Once upon a time, under a leafy tree situated in a beautiful garden, there was a little frog who had made a cave between the tree´s roots.

The frog Mimi used to croak every day until midday, when the sun illuminated her door.

When this happened, Mimi went out of her cave through moss and the morning dew, hiding somewhere, looking for flies, mosquitos, worms and ants.

One morning, while she was tuning her throat to sing her serenade as always, a big storm began, and drop after drop, the rain was so strong.

Hours passed, and the rain was not stopping. Mimi needed to go out to look for some food, but how could she get out her little cave with such a storm?.

One of Mimi´s characteristics was that she never gave up easily, she actually used to hatch a plan in order to beat difficulties and reach her purposes every¡y day.

Mimi hatched the next plan:

Number one: Search for fallen leaves outside the cave´s door.

Number two: Don´t be afraid at all.

Number three: Be really careful outside under the rain.

Number four: Tie the leaves and weave them together, making a little survival canoe.

Number five: Get on the canoe and have confidence, the plan will work.

And so, Mimi, the wise frog, went rowing through the garden, carefully and with confidence. Rowing through puddles in the graden, searching for her usual food.

Her plan was so successful that had food left for the next day. So, went under the leafy tree, the sun rays were already shinning after the storm, and she could enjoy what she most liked to do; croaking, singing, croaking…

“Croak, croak, croak, ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, I am singing because I am happy, croak, croak, croak, gribbit gribbit, gribbit. I am singing because I overcame my fair”

THE END.

Short Story for Kids written by: Maria José Aparicio.

Adele was a small and lonely cloud. She had no friends and was not able of taking up water for some time, and of giving water either.

The other clouds did not want her being near, because she could not help them anymore, every time Adele tried to reach them the rest became so angry causing a big storm.

Vince, the wind, did not want to move her from one place to another, because did not want to waste his strengths with such a scrawny cloud.

She was always at the same place without moving, what annoyed Julius the sun, besides that she was covering the bald mountains.

Adele did not know what happened to her, as everybody ignored her, she could not ask anyone. She had tried to talk to her mates, the other clouds; but every time she approached them, they pushed her away.

One night, Adele decided to talk to the moon, who was considered the most wise in the firmament. She told her everything, and the moon said:

– “You are sad and crestfallen because you are not able of doing your task as a cloud, as well as you have no friends, are alone and solitude is not good for anyone. I would also feel alone if the stars were not with me every night, and my light would not be so bright. I think you have to make a big effort helping your friends to demonstrate them that you are looking forward to work as they do, I am sure that if you really try it, will finally take lots of water and will be able of working with your friends who I am sure, will accept you”.

- “That is the only think I want, to be useful and have friends”.

– “think how important is the work of the clouds. You carry water to drink, for irrigatimg the fields, to fill wells and rivers, clean mountains…water is a lacking and essential resource, and human need it more than anything to live. Don´t worry about having friends, good friends come when you least expect it, and stay with you if you need them”.

– “Thanks for helping me, Moon, tomorrow, I will make a big effort to do my job, will try to give the water I have to a needed place and then will begin a new cycle of loading a unloading water. I won´t be discouraged again, I want to be a good cloud!”.

The next morning, Adele woke up very happy and optimistic.

-“I am going to unload the water I have, but I need Vince´s help”.

Called Vince to ask him for help to make her task.

Vince made fun of Adele at the beginning, but after seeing her so convinced looking forward to work, decided to help her.

Vince began blowing and Adele moved softly through the sky, searching for some place where the water was needed.

Passed over a dry river, full of stones and branches, wanted to send her water there, but Vince convinced her not to do it, because the water she was carrying was not enough and would not help at all.

Kept moving, passed over a small desert, but Vince explained her again that was not a good idea.

Suddenly, stopped over a farm, where a girl was whispering to a dry and skinny plant:

– “Little plant, I am really sorry, but I don´t have water for you, the wells around are dry for some time now, and there is no water for watering. We just have a small amount to drink”.

Adele heard the girl and did not hesitate to help her. Approached a well near the house and gave her all the water. The girl was very happy, took a bucket, filled it and gave water to her little plant.

Adela was weak and empty, but the girl´s happiness gave her strength to find a place to take more water and give it to the girl again.

Adele and the girl became very good friends since then.

Adela stayed around that place forever, sharing her water, never felt useless again, and had so many friends, kids and not so kids, who told her stories and invited her to their parties as she was one more in the family.

The clouds in trouble used to visit her for advice, and Adele was always there listening and helping.

And that is the end of the story…

Once upon a time inside the crystalline waters of a fish bowl, a red fish was living. Had big eyes and his name was Jasperlyn.

Jasperlyn was always observing a corn plan that was outside his fish bowl, but it was not a normal corn, it was beautiful and very shiny.

Jasperlyn was so happy, In spite he was alone in the fish bowl he did not feel like that, because the corn plant was illuminating his fishbowl, and if he was sleeping, the corn stopped shining.

One rainy day, Jasperlyn was looking at the beautiful plant of corn and began to feel sick, he did not stop of looking at it until went to sleep; he actually though that would feel better after sleeping, and could contemplate the brilliant plant better.

But, time passed, and the plant did not shine any more, Jasperlyn had gone to sleep and never woke up again…

The fish Jasperlyn died and took with him the shine of the corn plant…

THE END

Short Story written by: Martha Bianchi (Argentina).

Anna is watching the rain…has her face against the glass of the window and is observing how the drops fall down the street making little puddles. People passes with their umbrellas in a hurry, the cars are driving carefully, not too fast.

Is almost midday, and continues raining, Anna has to go to school and thinks about how to go without getting wet. Has the school bag ready, loos for her smock looking at her mom and says: “Hurry up mom, I’m going to be late”

Her mom replies shocked: “Anna, today it´s raining very hard, you are not going to class”

“Yeeees!, I want to go…I want to go! Rainy days are beautiful at school, and the teacher gives good marks!” – says Anna.

“No way!…you can get sick”

“Mom, I don´t want to miss school, I´m sure today we will draw” – begs.

Mom wraps her up at her insistence, and go out with an umbrella to wait the school bus. Anna goes in and notices stranged that there are only teachers inside.

When they arrive at school there are no more kids, is still raining, and Anna´s teacher greets her and invites her to get into the hall. “We are not having class today” – says. – “But I congratulate you for being a responsible girl and very studious! so, we will use tea time to tell a short story, a short story that you can paint in your notebook”. – says the teacher with affection.

Once upon a time…there was a little rabbit that had a very long ears, and the other rabbits were always making fun of him. One day, he was veeery sad, and went to the field for a walk.

Met a hare after a while, and told her what was going on, and she said: “Ignore them, you are like them, but, I can borrow you my hat in case you feel bad…wow! it really fits you! you look like Mister rabbit! – “Thank you very much” – replied the rabbit.

When he went back home, the other rabbits were shocked, he was very elegant, and they were very sorry; “we really miss you, friend! “- said to him – “Come back and forgive us!” – And the long ears rabbit said “I forgive you, but my friend, the hare helped me, and I can not abandon her; I will come to visit you, bye!” – The other rabbits learnt the lesson and… that is the end of the story…” – says the teacher.

Anna has paid careful attention to the story, so takes out her color pencils and begins to draw, when she finishes, the teacher writes a congratulations note on her notebook.

Then, Anna goes back home really happy and eats a delicious hot chocolate.

THE END

A drop of rain fell onto the street and a little frog that was hanging around asked:

“Where do you come from?”

“I fell from a cloud, and many more will fall soon”

“Cool! So they will make puddles in whick I can play!. How did you fall?” – it added.

Yesterday we were very high up in the clouds, all together. Suddenly, a cold breeze hit us, pushed us with all its strength and we fell from the cloud!

“Oh! your are so lucky to be able to hang around so high up!”

“Yes, it´s fantastic, we can see all the landscape from up there”

“And now the leaves of the plants will become really green, and the flowers will be more colourful!” – shouted the frog.

“Sure! and there will be good harvest emerging from the cultivated fields!” – said the drop of rain.

“And what will happen when the drops stop falling?” – asked the frog worried.

“We will wait for the sun to come out, and then we will go up into the cloud again, and water other places”, said the drop.

“Well, I´m going to look for my friends to play in the puddles and sing a bit” – and he left jumping happily.

Another drop had fallen on a window pane, and a kid called John looked at the wet roads with a sad face, holding his ball and thinking that he couldn’t go out to play. Then, the drop ran down the glass and said to the kid: “Why don’t you look for a paper boat and come out to play in the puddles, you will have so much fun!”

Some snails came out in the garden due to the rain, and a sleepy turtle put her head out and began to walk slowly to take a bath. The birds were curled up on the branches of the trees, shaking there little feathers while waiting for the rain to stop so they could start singing.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Martha, the grandmother cooked delicious fried pastries, Mario, the grandfather, watched a movie as beside him, his granddaughter Emma, was drawing in a colouring book.

Rainy days are so beautiful !

Short Story for Kids, written by: Yeilsy Carrero Moreno.

Once upon a time, there was a pretty princess called Renee. She lived in a beautiful castle in the middle of a forest. It was a beautiful forest, it had many trees, flowers, butterflies and a beautiful lake.

One nice day, the princess went out for a walk in the forest, but she was not alone, she took her lovely doll with her. It was a very cute doll, and very special because she could talk! The doll said:

“I love you, let´s play, you are my cutest friend, I love you mommy”.

That day, the princess walked very happily with her little doll. They sat under the shadow of a tree in front of the lake, looking at the ducks playing. The little ducks were jumping in the water, swimming and splashing very happily.

Suddenly, the water splashed the little doll and soaked it and the doll could not talk any more. The princess became so sad that she started crying. The little ducks jumped quickly out of the water and asked:

– “Princess; what is wrong? Why are you crying? Do not cry, let´s play!” – And so they played hide and seek, running so much until they were very tired and very hungry.

The princess said: “Little ducks, I’ve brought some cakes, it’s time to eat!”

They all sat and ate cakes and relaxed. Suddenly, they heard a voice saying: “I love you, let´s play, you are my cutest friend, I love you mummy”

The ducks wondered: “Who is talking? Who said that?”

And the princess replied: “It’s my doll! She’s dry and can speak again!”

And the princess was very, very happy, and so were the ducks!

That day, the princess understood that sometimes, our problems are resolved if we forget about them for a while.

THE END

Short Story written by: Jose Mauricio Puentes Arias.

One day, all the animals in the forest decided to have a meeting, from the biggest to the smallest, because they wanted to solve a problem that they were worried about. They were tired of seeing humans throw their rubbish into the water, contaminating and so harming nature.

For this reason, lots of them, mostly their young, were dying. They hatched a plan to make humans suffer just as much as the animals were suffering.

At night time, an astute rabbit and a dog crept silently into town and threw manure directly into the water tanks.

When the townspeople turned the water on, they noticed that it was cloudy and dirty and a strange colour. They called the water company to complain, but the company couldn’t explain what had happened. Many people ran upstream to search for a reason and they found lots of waste by the river bank and that it was the river water that was contaminated.

They decided to start a clean-up campaign and fine those who threw waste into the water. They promised themselves that they would keep this source of life clean for many years to come.

The forest animals were very happy and satisfied with the lesson they had taught humans. Since then, they have all lived happily, have taken care of the environment and have valued natural resources like water.

THE END

Short Story written by: Xabier Pita

It was Friday and I had to take my bath as usual. The water from the tap was running and the bath started to fill up. The soap bubbles got bigger and the rubber duck rose higher until the bath water overflowed. I ran from from the corridor and jumped into the water and made a big splash that got the bathroom floor very wet.

It looked like the soap bubbles were moving and the rubber duck wanted to tell me something! Suddenly, I saw a hole open up. It was a door in the bath that I could dive into, to reach Submarine City.

What I first saw after going through the door was a colourful school of fish swimming near me and a bit further on, I came to a real subaquatic city with shops, houses and even an amusement park.

It was the end of a school trip and all the mermaids were at their school to pick up their little mermaids, who were coming out after swimming and fishing lessons.

After swimming for a while, I went to the sub-aquatic amusement park and took a ride on the submarine roller coaster, the flying fish and the crazy whales.

I had so much fun! I really love bath time!

The End

Short Story written by: Luis Muñoz.

This is the story of Phil, a good kid who is smart and obedient. But he was very sad because his dream was to have a dog to play with but he wasn´t allowed. He was seven years old and adored dogs as well as other animals and that´s why he was sad and unconsolable.

He had asked his parents for a dog a thousand times. He didn´t have brothers or sisters and so felt even more lonely. His parents had refused to buy him a dog because they didn’t like animals.

Phil´s parents took him to a field one day to have a fun afternoon, but he didn’t want to play on his own, he just wanted to sit and think about how it might be to have a dog.

Phil walked slowly away from his parents. He was so distracted that didn´t see the bank in front of him and he slipped and fell into the river. Phil began to scream:

– “Help, Help!”

A stray dog that was hanging around saw him drowning and dove into the water to save him.

After hearing his cries for hep, Phil´s parents ran to help him, and saw with surprise that a dog was dragging their son out of the river by clutching his collar in its teeth.

Once out of the water, Phil looked at his parents and then at the dog and hugged the dog being so grateful that he had saved him.

From that moment, Phil´s dream was granted. His parents let him to take the dog home in appreciation for having saved his life from the river current.

Since then, Phil has been a happy, joyful and a funny kid, especially with his parents and with his dog whom he named “Saviour” .

From that day on, this family has always protected animals and taken care of them, teaching the value that animals can have for people.
