There was a girl called Anna, who was studying in Esmarth Vil, a primary school in the United States.

She was the most hardworking girl at her school, her marks were higher than the others. She was the best, but nobody wanted to be her friend. They didn´t want to play with her and teased her.

One day, the teacher set an exam and a boy called Robert signed his exam using Ana´s name. So, when the teacher returned all the exams, everybody was shocked. Anna found out she had failed the exam, and the other kids were happy of this.

The next day, when Anna arrived at school all the kids wanted to be with her and invited her to play with them. Suddenly, when Anna was playing with the other children, the teacher appeared to inform her that there had been a mistake, and she hadn´t failed.

The teacher explained them what had happened and afterwould, they all stopped playing with Anna.

One day, the First Lady of the United States went to visit the school. She wanted to visit every child in every schools. During her visit, the First Lady saw that Anna was crying and so she said:

– “What is your name?”

The girl answered: “Anna”

And the First Lady asked her why was she crying, Anna explained what had happened. She told her how the other kids didn’t like her just because she was the most hardworking at the school and she always got good results.

Then, the First Lady took the school microphone and told stories about her childhood that were similar to Anna´s.

After her speech all the children realized that they had been rude to Anna, and felt sorry. They should have been happy to have a friend that got such good marks and made such a big effort at school.

Then they followed Anna’s example and their marks began to improve and they always played together without ignoring her or anyone else.

From then on they were very happy and learned the lesson of respecting others.

And that is the end of the story…

Values of the story: Respect, friendship.

Short Story for boys and girls written by: Luis Muñoz (Spain).

There was a country house in a beautiful valley. It was very big, beautiful, built with good taste, and full of details.

The owner was a well off landowner called John. He was a person who had a good heart, loved animals, and he liked going hunting.

He used to capture different living birds and put them into cages. He liked seeing the animals close-up, to take care of them and to protect them. Before capturing them, these wild animals lived in the valley.

John had a fifteen year old son called Josh. He also liked animals and birds, but unlike his father, he didn´t like the way his father kept them inside cages, without being able to fly around. Josh liked them to be free, in their natural environment.

Sometimes, when his father wasn´t around, Josh freed some of the animals as he could not bear to see them suffering in the cages, even if they were quite comfortable.

His father used to capture, gazelles, cats, zebras, leopards, eagles, owls and many others and he never noticed that some of the cages were open and empty. Then one day, he did.

As John knew his son´s wish was to see the animals freed, he knew that it was him.

Josh was angry and without thinking decided to leave the country house without telling his dad.

After some days, his father became worried, because Josh wasn´t back. He even started to cry thinking that his son had left him forever.

Josh was his only child, and John loved him more than anything, more than the animals, as this was just a hobby to occupy himself.

John asked some of the workers in the house to go out and look for his son. They finally found him after a long time searching. He was in another country house with a friend.

John’s workers told Josh his father´s desires, begging him to come back and saying that he could do what he wanted with the animals and the cages, if only he would come back home.

This gave Josh the permission to free all the animals, to allow them to range free around the country house and in the valley.

So Josh went to see his father and told him he was coming back to release all the animals. He said that the doors of the cages and the doors in the fence surrounding the house were alway going to stay open so all the animals living there could move as they wanted, in or out, and whether they wanted to eat there or not.

And so that is what happened. The animals went in and out when they wanted, even other animals that had never been caged, went there too. They liked going because they were well cared for.

Josh and his father were very happy because they had made the right decision letting them free. John didn’t have to go hunting anymore as the animals went to his property on their own. The country house was always full of animals.

So, this very united family lived very happily with their wild animals and birds, making sure to take care of them

Wild animals should always be free enjoying their nature and environment.

THE END

A gnome who lived in the forest, was at home boiling chestnuts in his cooking pot as it was the soup he really liked.

His friend, Mr.Snail appeared at the window and called out to him.

– “Good morning Happy Gnome” – greeted the snail.

– “Hello Mr.Snail, do you want to taste my chestnut soup?” – said the gnome.

– “Mmm, it smells really nice!”- the snail said.

Mr. Snail told the gnome about a place in the field where there were many chestnuts.

– “I found lots of them yesterday, when I went for a walk” – said the snail to the happy gnome.

The snail and the gnome finished their delicious breakfast and went to collect more chestnuts to have dinner together.

When they arrived, there were no more chestnuts . Somebody had already collected them.

– “There are no more chestnuts left! Where are they? Where are they?!” – screamed the gnome, angrily.

-“Don´t worry, I´m sure there are more somewhere near here, let´s have a look”.

They searched for chestnuts all over the forest until it started to rain. They looked for a place to shelter and saw a little wooden house. The door was open and they were wet, so the gnome said:

– “Let´s go in, nobody is inside”

-“We can´t go in without being invited” – replied the snail.

But the happy gnome did not want to get any wetter, so he put the snail on his shoulders and went into the house.

– “Mr.Snail! look! Here is a sack of chestnuts from the forest!” – the happy gnome exclaimed.

– “But somebody took them before us. They aren´t ours.” said the snail

But the gnome wanted all the chestnuts for himself, so he took the sack and left to walk in the rain.

Suddenly, a fork of lightning broke the branch of a tree, and it fell on the happy gnome. Mr.Snail, who was following him, tried to help him out from under it, but the branch was too big.

Then, a wise little rabbit appeared. He had seen what had happened at the wooden house, and helped the snail to move the branch.

-“Maybe, none of this would have happened if you had not taken those chestnuts, that are not yours.”

– “These chestnuts are mine, I have collected them!” – the gnome insisted.

Seeing that the gnome was not telling the truth, the rabbit took him back to the little wooden house.

-“Look, happy gnome, look through the window” – said the rabbit to the gnome.

The gnome obeyed and looked through the window. He saw a little mummy rabbit, sitting at the table with her three kids. They were sad because there was barely anything on their plates.

-“The mother rabbit had collected all those chestnuts for dinner, and now they only have four pieces of bread. Meanwhile, you have there enough chestnuts for everyone” – said the wise rabbit.

-“Yes! happy gnome!” – exclaimed Mr.Snail -“You can cook chestnut soup for everyone!”

The happy gnome realized that he had been wrong and so he went inside the house and apologised to the mother rabbit. She could see that the gnome was repentant, forgave him and accepted Mr.Snail’s idea”.

So, they all had the happy gnome´s delicious soup for dinner. They ate, laughed, played…and that is how they all became friends.

THE END

Merlin decided to go out for a walk with his friend Lisa. They met a group of girls who, when they saw Merlin, were really scared.

One of them was the King´s daughter who then told her father what she had seen. the King sent his best hunters in kingdom to search for the monster.

They looked for him everywhere as they did not want him to scare the town’s inhabitants again.

Merlin saw them and ran away. He was afraid for himself and for his friend Lisa as he did not want her to be hurt.

They were running away from the hunters when Lisa fell into a trap the hunters had set and was injured.

Merlin pulled her out of the trap and saved her and they went to live in another place. There, they demonstrated to everybody that they were not bad and that sometimes appearances are decieving. From then on, they could go out for walks and nobody was scared of them or tried to hurt them.

Granny Mary had a black sheep that she had raised. She had to sell Blacky´s mother because had economic troubles, and had to feed her with milk using an improvised feeding bottle with a teat.

To make Blacky eat better, she had to sat her on her own lap, each morning and each afternoon.

The little sheep breeding has been raised like another member of the family, she used to go for walks with Granny Mary, and used to hang inside the house looking for food, eating it later outside the house.

They named her, Blacky; when somebody called her by her name, she used to go fast to the place they were; getting food rewards every time she went to the call.

Granny Mary was working on her vegetable garden, removing weeds that had sprouted between the vegetables. She used to repeat this job every time she went to take some vegetables, she stayed there cleaning the grass.

– “John! Can you please come out to the vegetable garden?” – Mary yells to her husband.

– “Yes! let me finish something here, then I´m coming”.

– “Ok, I will wait here for you”.

John, Mary´s husband, is cleaning his horse´s stable, shifting the animal to a corner, to take them later to the place where organic fertilizer is made.

All the substance that could be convertible into new soil is deposited inside a hole in the ground, then covered with soil layers, and then, adding every thing capable of becoming soil again, like dry leaves, paper, little branches, animal wastes, can finally be used as a fertilizer.

-“John!Are you coming or not?”

-“Coming”

-“What´s wrong, dear?”

-“Look at the carrots, there are practically none left”

-“Well, I collected the vegetables yesterday and the carrots were fine, very big, actually, but they have disappeared today!”

-“That is impossible!”

-“What is not possible, dear?”

-“They are not here, it looks like some animal has eaten them”.

-“Ok, today we´ll guard the garden to discover what animal is eating our carrots”.

– “I work so hard cultivating vegetables and they disappear like nothing”. – Mary said to her husband.

– Don´t worry, we will put some traps, I think that are the rabbits, those animals really love carrots”.

That night they organized a timetable for guarding the vegetable garden, but nothing happened.

This is the story of a girl, who had a normal family. The story says that there was an old woman walking down the street near a park. She had been shopping at the supermarket and was carrying plastic bags. When the little girl, who was playing in the park, saw her walking with the heavy bags, she did not hesitate to go and help her. The thankful granny gave her lots of candies and asked her:

“Who taught you such good manners?”

The girl said that her parents had, and the granny was very happy to learn that the girl was always going to be so good.

And the girl went back to play very happy.

When she saw her parents arriving from a shopping trip, she went to tell them what had happened with that granny. She told them that she had helped carry her shopping bags and that the granny had given her sweets in exchange.

Her parents, said smiling:

“Well done! It´s good to be nice with old people. We have something for you because you are a very good girl“.

The girl saw a new bike, just what she wanted, and was very happy and went riding to the park.

Short Story written by: Jose Mauricio Puentes Arias.

One day, all the animals in the forest decided to have a meeting, from the biggest to the smallest, because they wanted to solve a problem that they were worried about. They were tired of seeing humans throw their rubbish into the water, contaminating and so harming nature.

For this reason, lots of them, mostly their young, were dying. They hatched a plan to make humans suffer just as much as the animals were suffering.

At night time, an astute rabbit and a dog crept silently into town and threw manure directly into the water tanks.

When the townspeople turned the water on, they noticed that it was cloudy and dirty and a strange colour. They called the water company to complain, but the company couldn’t explain what had happened. Many people ran upstream to search for a reason and they found lots of waste by the river bank and that it was the river water that was contaminated.

They decided to start a clean-up campaign and fine those who threw waste into the water. They promised themselves that they would keep this source of life clean for many years to come.

The forest animals were very happy and satisfied with the lesson they had taught humans. Since then, they have all lived happily, have taken care of the environment and have valued natural resources like water.

THE END

Short Story written by: “The Ecologist”

One day a dreamy girl was taking a walk with her parents when the sky turned grey and it was about to rain. The girl, who had a beautiful, curly, black hair looked up at the sky with her big brown eyes and saw that the drops of the rain, were love drops from God.

The curious girl decided to investigate what the drops were exactly, she analysed them and discovered that they were actually drops of moral values, which could help her be a better person.

The first drop contained gratitude, which showed her all the marvellous things that God has done for us. Gratitude is an important value for with it we can appreciate what people do for us and be grateful.

She kept walking and stopped to analyse the beautiful forest with its animals, plants and trees. They were all special and she felt happy to be breathing pure air. How grateful she was to be there!

Later, she was playing with her parents when another drop touched her. It was the drop of responsibility, that teaches us to obey our parents and to love and respect them, because parents are the first ones that teach you how to take care of each other. Love, solidarity, cooperation and responsibility, are all values that a family teaches and that help form a person´s personality.

And of course, it is important to be responsible and to fulfil your obligations and to help at home.

Momo was a little kid living in Africa with all his family. He had listened to his wise grandfather´s songs and rituals since he was small.

His grandfather was the witch doctor in the village, or that´s how he was known there. Legend says that when he was in the mountains singing his rainy song to the gods, all Africa was covered by rain for several hours. Momo knew that there was a drought and how important it was to distribute water, so his grandfather was his hero.

One day, Momo was out walking alone through the desert when he saw a lizard camouflaged in the sand in order to protect itself from being eaten by other animals:

“What´s wrong? are you all right?” – asked Momo.

“I´m very tired and thirsty. I haven´t drunk water for four days.”

Momo took the lizard to a little puddle and went to tell the situation to his grandfather.

They both went up the mountain and sang to the gods. Suddenly it began to rain all over the continent and all the animals were saved.

THE END

“Sleep baby, sleep right now, otherwise, the boogeyman will come and eat you…”

This was the song that Peter´s mum used to sing him every night at bedtime. Poor Peter was always thinking “How can I sleep with a boogeyman around?”. But he always ended up falling asleep.

One day, when his mother left the room, Peter heard a noise inside the wardrobe, and of course he thought it was the boogeyman. Peter didn’t sleep at all that night. He called out to his parents a few times and was very scared.

Peter couldn’t sleep every time his mum sang that song. His parents finally realised how bad the song was for their kid: “We should stop singing that song, but then, what can we sing?”

And Peter, who was listening to the conversation, said: “Why don´t you tell me short stories? I want a new short story every day.”

His parents were mouth-opened, “Where can we find new short stories every day?” – they wondered.

Well, on which website do you think they can find new stories every day?
